I love this and suggested the same during the ride today when the same two guys were doing it repeatedly. Ghost them and/or put them on a rubber band behind the people pedaling - just keep them out of the way. Coffee breaks aren’t terrible but if it’s busy and you’re on an A bot, you will get a lot and I can’t see the pacer bot with all of the icons. If you ride ahead they just shuffle you back. I appreciate the feature just not the ones abusing it. Maybe only allow riders by level to coffee break with the same bot. A riders with Constance, B riders no higher than Bernie. Max of 2 ‘free’ mins of rejoining - though I have no idea why you get 9 seconds or so and the another 50
Problem now is that you have a wall of them and even if you try to push past them, then the wall keeps moving ahead of you at the same speed. So you cannot overtake them and keep getting blocked/sticky-draft behind them, while the robopacer group ahead has a nice clear run. Really the simple solution would just be to remove the coffee break function from free rides and robopacers and let people use the teleport instead. That gets rid of the pack dynamics related problems of coffee stops.
The teleport pedal-assist cheating needs to be stopped, don’t give them any distance in that period until they start riding themselves. They all use the handcycle for that and it really messes up the drafting/pack dynamics.
Fix both of those and the grumbles here are mostly solved, except for the people using both of those features for their cheating.

I did 85 minutes with Constance this morning on Volcano Circuit and there was never a time without these pacer cheats. Anywhere from 1-5 at all times. They join the group, instantly start coffee break, and then drop after the 3-minutes expire. With a small group under 10 riders, their presence alters the draft, speed, and flow of the group ride. Why is Zwift counting coffee break distance anyway?
Perhaps the coffee break needs to be changed to:
- no time limit (5 hours or more if they want)
- not require a rider nearby (can be used whenever)
- adjustable speed up to 60km/h?
This should be enough for “cool downs”? At least that’s how I’ve seen it described in the chat by some of those using the feature.
Same for the teleport assist when they teleport in with the handcycle, coast at 0 watts for gaining distance, then drop away and repeat the process multiple times, then activate a coffee-break when that is available. Then back to teleport and coast.
It messes up the pack dynamics and forces people who are actually riding (rather than sitting at a computer) out of the draft.
This is where it is easier to ride alone on unpopular routes (like mountainous routes).

My biggest issue with going out in public is that the public is THERE.
