Option to switch from kph to km/h?

Is there a way to switch to km/h, which is the most common unit in Europe?

There isn’t, but you could vote up the feature request asking for this change:

Please correct "kph" to read "km/h" instead

Please correct “kph” to read “km/h” instead. “kph” is not a correct, nor officially recognized, abbreviation of kilometers per hour. (Yes, it can occasionally be found in use in the US, however, that does not make it correct.)
