Awesome! The update fixed the issue (2011 Mac mini OS Sierra)
Hi @Phil_Gwyn welcome to Zwift forums
Please see above:
Update worked for me on my 2009 Mac Pro with ATI radeon 5770 graphics card. 10.11.6 El Capitan OS. Thanks all who got it fixed in a timely manner.
I just checked and it’s working fine here on macOS 11.6 Big Sur with OpenCore 0.7.4:

No black screens, no blacking out riders, no strange colours, etc.
Did the complete clean / reinstall and unfortunately the ZwiftApp still crashes on launch.
Can start Zwift, then click “Let’s go”, then nothing and app closes.
Working on MacBook Pro (mid-2012) with Catalina 10.15.7 and all latests updates installed (Mac OS did update safari like a week ago don’t know if this is related).
Same issue here. MacBook Pro mid 2012, Catalina 10.15.7 - ZwiftApp launches, but crashes after “Let’s Go”. The loading screen appears but crashes without any further information.

@Simon_Scheel_3708 please refer to this thread, it might be the same issue you are having?
This is not the answer, so you tell me to remove a security patch, that is supposed to protect me.
That is lame. Zwift you can do better. Im ready to cancel my membership as you have done nothing but insult my savvy!
Still not solved for me, running macOS Catalina 10.15.7 with all the latest security updates on a mid 2012 13-inch MacBook Pro (which still runs brilliantly with an SSD drive). Zwift is updated to 1.0.85684 and the launcher is 1.0.25. The app crashes and quits when I click on “Let’s go”. Logs are very similar to Simon Scheel above. I gave Zwift full disk access from the system preferences, no change.
I have the black screen issue exatly like Teresa and have the same MAC hardware configuration. I deleted zwift completely and re-installed issue is still there. I am on MAC Book Pro Catalina 10.15.7.
Your computing environment is supposedly still supported by Zwift, but with that old operating system, if it were mine I would be looking at updating it to at least Big Sur (11.7) or Monterey (12.6) using OpenCore Legacy Patcher. We haven’t seen reports of the black screen issue recently on the forum as far as I know. If that’s not appealing, I’d contact Zwift support.
I have exactly the same issue running the same configuration. That laptop has two graphics GPUs (Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 1.5Gb memory and NVIDIA GeoForce GT 650M with 512 Mb memory). It appears from the logs that Zwift application is selecting the NVIDIA rather than the Intel GPU, resulting in what you see.
I have tried twice to bring this to Zwift Support. The first time they were supposed to send me an article about this but never did. The second time they submitted the problem to advanced support but they never responded.
Zwift support did get back to me and after some checking they came up with the following work around:A
At this time, I’d advise you to run the OpenGL executable with the following steps:
- In Finder, select Go
- Hold the Option key, then select Library
- In the Library folder, select Application Support>Zwift
- Right-click ZwiftApp, then Open With Terminal.
They told me this is a known problem they are working on. The work around did the trick for me.
