Life Fitness IC7 not measuring watts

I wouldn’t buy either to be honest but if you are looking for a review, I think you will find one on DC Rainmaker’s website for one of the Wattbike’s.

the problem it’s that with the global factory shutdown, i don´t have any other options in Europe. I will try the Stages SC3, maybe there are some units around. Thanks!

You don’t have to do anything with respect to purchasing. You could always buy a real bicycle in the meantime while smart trainer inventories are restocked. Just need some patience.

Does anyone know if the IC7 or IC8 works interactively with Zwift? I.e. will the bike automatically increase resistance when you cycle up a hill in Zwift?

Very useful to know. My IC7 arrives this week.

Hi, the IC7 (tested personally on my 2015 model with TFT 2.0 computer) will allow both Power and Cadence to connect via Bluetooth to a (v5, old) iPad. But to get actual values to Zwift you have select a “Quick Start” program at the main WattRate 2.0 Menu. Only then, will the IC7 actually send data to the iPad. DONE! S

Nope! You’ll have to change resistance. I wish Zwift would give some guidance on the screen to help. Now that would be fantastic! S

Where can you get the TFT 2.0? I am getting a great deal on a IC7 but it has the 1.0 console.

Search “tft 2.0 console firmware”. The post johnsonfit is the one you need. Sorry: can’t put the link here.

Hi Howdy. Where did you purchase your TFT 2.0 Console, and how did you update your SW? I also have and IC7 with the older 1.0 Console, but haven’t had luck finding the newer console after market. Thanks!!

Hello,
I have the opportunity to buy an ic7 2nd hand.
Is zwift able to control the resistance of you bike?
Many thanks
Patrick

Nope. It can’t control that type of device. You have to turn a knob that does not give accurate watts. You could potentially buy power pedals for big bucks if they fit it to read your real power output but even that won’t control the resistance which is what makes online cycling actually fun and engaging. Don’t buy a spin bike. You will regret it.

Hi, I have the IC6 since spring and I always wonder if the numbers are correct. If there is a discrepancy, I hope that it is not as large as 30%. I will buy the Assioma Duo pedals for my road bike and I will be able to compare the watts between my IC6 and this more traditional measurement.

IC7 (1.0) x Zwift x appleTV works…

For me with 4iiii HR and a Cable ANT+

Setup your cable on your iOS device (to transfer cadence). Save.

Start your bike, quick start (not connected to your phone).

Setup your 4iiii on your phone measure HR. Go to Viiiiva options, scan ANT+, find your bike, choose only power (not cadence). Save.

Now you have installed the cable ANT+ and the HR, then switch off Bluetooth on your device(phone or tablet), so that the Apple TV can connect in stead.

Now go to Zwift on your appleTV, choose power source, 4iiii
HR, 4iiii
Cadence, Cable

GO!

I have an ic7 ( the last 2 years ) with 2.0 computer and it works perfectly. No issues! It connects perfectly with my pc MAC (with a ant+ dongle on the Mac). The ic7 must be selected in " quick start".
Related with accuracy. Man, the manufacturer ensures a very hi accuracy one of the hiest on the market with only 1% error. Accuracy is accuracy. Watts are watts and 1% error is awesome!
Other thing. It seems, till now, very resistente and without maintenance.
The only *issue " is that it doesn’t interact with zwift, loading resistence when climbing. But you can use your hand and increase it, like you do in real life!
That’s all folks.

Hi everyone. One year more of usage. No problems at all with the ic7 lifefitness. The connection with zwift works always perfectly and about the wattage measure accuracy, I’ve bought a new favero assioma pedals recently (4 months ago) and they measure the same wattage as I expected because both of them claim precision on they’re measurements. I’ve noticed 3-5 watts of difference between ic7 and favero assioma, nothing more than this. For me it seems perfect and gives me confidence on both systems.
