Is Zwift Ride compatible with Wahoo Climb? [July 2024]

My current setup has a Wahoo Climb but I’m interested in getting the new Zwift Ride and trying to figure out if it’s compatible with the Climb. Doesn’t look like it since it’s not mentioned in the specs but would be nice to have a concrete answer. Having gradient adjustments made riding so much better so maybe the Ride is a downgrade?

No, it’s not compatible with Climb, sorry.

Hi @Luis_Velazco, welcome to Forums. Juan here from Zwift. I appreciate you taking the time to seek community support.

Thanks for your interest for Zwift Ride compatibility with your current setup. As Steve mentioned it is not compatible with Wahoo Climb. Please visit this link for more info.

If you have any other questions, please contact us.

I hope that there is a version in the future that will work with the Climb.
I can’t imagine that it would be difficult to make this change, I’d buy one if the two were compatible.
Why was this not done?

In a recent interview Eric Min said not including support for the Climb was part of the effort to keep the cost of the Ride down.

I would imagine that if it was compatible with the Climb it would clearly state it was, as a selling point.

Wouldn’t all that have been needed is basically putting dropouts in the right spot along the faux fork? They could then include a solid base that connects to them, or if you have a Climb, you’d attach that.

But there is no ‘fork’, just a ‘post’, which wouldn’t work with the Climb. And including a fork, instead of a post, would have added cost. Perhaps a worthwhile cost (especially given the association with Wahoo), but still a cost that Zwift chose to avoid. Perhaps there will be an a fork alternative offered in the future.

Disappointing decision.
I doubt that even one person with a Climb would buy the Zwift Ride.
I can’t imagine that an adapter would have been too difficult or costly to manufacture.

So it would have been a branching ‘post’, instead of a single one? That engineering trick must have been cost prohibitive lol.

You can see how Elite did it. I wouldn’t be surprised if that showed up for a v2 release if the partnership with Wahoo continues.

Someone needs to come up with an adapter. I have the climb and would love to get the Ride, but not gonna happen till then.

Hi @Troy_Kasper,

Welcome to the forums! This is Monica from Zwift.

I understand how important it is for you to use your Wahoo Kickr Climb with the Zwift Ride Smart Frame. Unfortunately, as my colleague mentioned, they are not compatible at this moment. However, I will pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for consideration.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Same problem here as well. I have the Kickr Climb and Core, would love to buy the Ride but they are not compatible.

Looks to me like it would need more than an adapter. The front support would probably have to be made shorter. Perhaps it could be redesigned with a removable lower segment that could be replaced with a quick release mount for the Climb.

As I’m riding the trainer and looking down at the Climb.
I think cutting the Ride “fork” down a bit and then using a plate with at least two bolts through it that has a through axle sticking out could work.
Pretty easy if the Ride is steel, harder if aluminum, but mostly because I have friends who can weld steel, aluminum is harder. Just kicking thoughts around while spinning.

This is really disappointing. I really wanted to buy the Zwift Ride but I also want the Climb or something that does incline simulation. I’m going to have to go another route.

The Caveworks Rivet does work with the Climb. Costs a bit more than the Ride and would need Play controllers added if you want game controls on it, but it’s also serviceable by you or any bike shop with industry standard parts.

Elite Square (whenever this actually hits the market) and the Rizer, but you should make sure your trainer is compatible with the rising function (ie. allows rotating of the secured rear axle)

At least for the Rizr, doesn’t one just have to modify the front leg of the Ride frame so that it sits on another piece through which one could insert a thru-axle? It seems like this could be done aftermarket.
