GPU clock speed Drops immediately when I change Image resolution

I happen to the bizarre situation.

When I change image resolution from high to low, the gpu clock speed also drops.

Does anyone have any idea?

Could it be because the GPU doesn’t need to run at the higher clock speed to deliver the lower resolution?

I think that can happen with Nvidia GPUs set to “Adaptive” power management mode.

Correct. It doesn’t need to work as hard, so it doesn’t.

^This is assuming 60fps is the target btw. If it’s not, and you’re wondering why lowering the resolution isn’t improving your frame rate, it’s because you are CPU limited. An RTX 3090 wouldn’t help, it’d just be working even less hard.
