Cheapest PC to Run Zwift at Highest Graphics Quality

Less than 2k? I’ll pass. The goal was to get slightly above what Zwift wants for best graphics with minimal effort, avoiding building it myself or dealing with eBay, Craigslist, etc. The PC will most likely just sit under the TV and be used for Zwift only. I’m sure it’ll be good for that for a few years.

That was just an example…6 mths ago they would ask $3500 for the same thing. Plenty of good deals under $1K if willing to risk used.

IDK. Seriously. I still think 879 was a decent deal for, key point here, a prebuilt PC with the specs of the one I bought. Amazon brings it to my door and it has a warranty under my plan if it breaks: it gets the job done with minimal effort on my part, which was my goal. I 100% agree that I could have done better on the price with more effort.

It’s normally about now that someone comes along and says that Apple TV is only $130, as though the only choices are that or a silly $2,000 PC.

Put some minor effort into the right donor system and you can do Ultra profile graphics and 60fps at 1440p resolution for $200 or less. I would recommend this path almost every time.

It hurts Dave when you spend more than necessary. Have a care. :upside_down_face:

Like this one Dave around $300.

This is while running OBS, RTX voice and streaming.

Or this under $200
This one did not like RTX voice :frowning: But fine for streaming and Zwift.

I was just about to say that. I use an Apple TV and I’ve Lost used a gaming pc for Zwift.

Honestly the difference doesn’t bother me. When I’m in the red zone I can’t even see the screen anyway.

Plus Zwift’s graphics aren’t that great anyway so I don’t see why it warrants a gaming pc, unless of course you will use the pc for something else.

Have you seen Zwift 4K on a 55" (or more) TV?

That could just be an old log file. Current logs have a line that indicates whether or not the GPU is on Zwift’s nice list, like this GFX: Found a vendor/model match for GTX 960 Green check means vendor/model match found, kack pile means not found, which results in the profile defaulting to basic.

Zwift graphics are pretty good IMO. Try riding on other platforms and you’ll definitely appreciate Zwift’s level of graphics :joy:.

(in RGT you only get a few bushes here are there)

Yes, Zwift is quite good:

That’s on the maximum detail with the foliage setting increased much higher.

That was on this machine:

I usually get around 60fps in Makuri as well in most places on that computer. But I don’t use it for Zwift much because it’s for work use.

However, if you look at some other apps like MSFS 2020 then these cycling apps look well behind:

A320 and Lake Burragorang (south of Sydney)
Jetstar A320NEO at Sydney
F35 low over the hills
RAAF A36-001 (100 years)
Innsbruck
Sterzing (Vipiteno)

Notably Microsoft and Asobo have an advantage in that Microsoft has Bing Maps and they do clever things with those.

The entire world is at that level of detail. It’s incredible, and when you use a VR headset it’s just amazing how real everything is, you really feel like you are actually flying a real plane and you get a perception of height above the ground which is so important for landing. Also controlling systems in the plane is easier because you look around naturally as you would in the real thing. If you are in a something like a fighter plane things can get queasy-feeling very quickly if you do sudden turns/banking.

I wonder what a cycling app could do with similar graphics technology, you could potentially simulate a lot of roads anywhere in the world without a lot of effort.

Would be interested too, in a one stop 4K ultra 60fps+ machine.

Really happy with the ATV4K. But the frame rate in the new Maps really shudders.

I swapped to running it on my laptop (i7 10gen, with a 1650gti and on 1080p / ultra profile I get 40fps with small groups and 30-35 with lots of riders. 60fps on Watopia when it’s quiet. So not quite up to spec.

Years ago Zwift used to sell / recommend Alienware boxes.

Just seen this nice concise post on the Zwift PC builders group:

“ CPU needs to be 12th gen, the i3 is enough. On the GPU side… All worlds = 2070. All situations = 3080. No, I’m not kidding.”

I had a quick look at a ready to go Dell. Looking €2.2k. Wowzer

To be clear, that is based on dealing with the absolute worst case scenarios in the game (stupidly dense foliage and big dust clouds) and maintaining 60fps in 4K at all times, no matter what, which is what was asked for in that particular post. I would never recommend that tier of hardware for Zwift, it’s a ridiculous waste of money. You’d never even get the fans going on a 3080.

If you’re going prebuilt, like me, I just spent 879 USD on an “Amazon special” that “should” give me 4K Ultra 60fps in all scenarios. When I broke down the parts that I’m getting for the sub 1000 USD price, including the exact same name brands, it’s not cheaper to build myself. So basically Amazon (or whoever) is building it for me for free. I looked up the same machine specs on the zwiftalizer benchmarks and it does better than 4K Ultra 60fps in all scenarios. I posted a link to the machine the other day.

With a 3050? Not in all of Yumezi, I’m afraid.

According to the benchmarks for the overclocked CPU, yea. I will be glad to eat my words after testing it today. I will share my zwiftaziler when Zwift has that board available and it’s crowded.

If I find it dropping into the 50s for the absolute worse case scenario, then that’s something I can live with because it’s really on Zwift at that point. Point being, there are decent sub 1000 dollar machines available pre built that can for the most part give very near the best graphics Zwift has to offer. If you have purchased the protection plan for all devices on Amazon, even better.

:sunglasses:That could buy Ultra 1440 on Zwift and a New groupset for your road bike. LOL
