Was noted in another thread, but I’ve found a dozen or so Zwift-run events that weren’t using Category Enforcement. They do now.
We are also acutely aware that our own Autocat system (which has been the inspiration for ZCE) is a long way ahead (with next to no power reference) and prevented many riders from starting today. Neither system was able to find most of the riders who have outperformed any prior Zwift performance so even ZCE would have failed today. The tribulations of having the harder race last and not first on the schedule and a reflection of most peoples usual course & race choices that has defined their ZP category.
Also, if there is no way to see what new category ZCE deems a rider to be, how does a manager put a team together? Many mid-insert-ZP-category-here are forced to race up in ZCE based races but there is no way to know that in advance until a rider signs on.
So was someone not telling the whole truth when they mentioned that CE is nothing to do with Autocat?
Also, AutoCat is a better system than Cat Enforcement.
WTRL have rescinded most of the Cat 7 errors from last night, so they cant even maintain their rules race to race.
Category Enforcement has nothing to do with Autocat.
Well that is the opposite to what you are saying? One of you is mis informed.
We were very clear (with Martin) from the outset that we were not building autocat, nor were we inspired by it.
Doesnt seem to be the message is he sharing with the wider racing community?
He is also running down CE to make the buy in even more difficult - That’s Zwifts primary community Race partner running down Zwift and their own effort to limit sandbaggers.
Martin has a history of spouting nonsense, I’m afraid.
Careful now, might get banned again
He’s not the only one who has given out inaccurate information around Cat enforcement, regardless of that though, this is the message that is being pushed out.
He’s talking out of his behind.
He’s acutely aware that his own system is miles ahead, yet no-one else is. The results from this latest race are an absolute shambles of DQs and upgrades (or non-DQs) because it’s still based on 20m power, a max effort is rarely done outside on an iTT, let alone 3 times in 90 days. The tops of categories, particularly B, are packed full of riders that cruise all day but have seemingly huge sub 5m power.
Not to mention he directly contradicts himself in that statement. He says he has no way of knowing their CE category, and then says:
Neither system was able to find most of the riders who have outperformed any prior zwift performance so even ZCE would have failed today
How does he know that? Answer - he doesn’t.
Regardless if he is or isnt… This is the message that is pushed out to the entire ZRL community through their facebook group & by the person running the show - People will believe it and will now believe that AutoCat is better than CE.
On the second point, I think everyone is in agreement that is the way things are and there still doesnt seem to be a want to fix that. Moving boundaries post race is simply a shambles.
The race schedule which is solely Zwift, has been set up to support sandbaggers, put the big efforts at the end so they dont upset all those sandbaggers. Zwift need to get their house in order alongside WTRL comms.
Or just leave WTRL to be a 3rd party race organiser and Zwift can focus on getting their own house in order.
Unfortunately the blurring of those lines during lockdown when Zwift didn’t want to dedicate resource to racing themselves has led to this sort of thing.
The thread on the ZRL facebook page is more entertaining than anything here
well post some stuff for those of us that aren’t banned from there! ::
edit : sorry not banned, just maintenanced
Well… Depressingly I’d say there’s a large percentage of people who seem to think Innsbruck magically allows you to ride beyond your limits so no DQ should be in effect.
The Zwift Race league is literally Sandbagging central.
Its always good for it be shown up as what it is, but the entire zwift culture now seems to around how to Sandbag and not get promoted.
My strategy last night was to go really hard for 5 minutes, nearly pass out (I was really shaky after 20 minutes warm up with Coco) and then stop
i fully intend on racing b1 next season so i can unlock the stupid helmet because a1 is full of actually good cyclists and 60 year old europeans on elite muins
Sandbaggers going to sandbag
You were sandbagging years ago, your not giving us any new information. Keep massaging that ego.
all of the actual sandbaggers got moved up to A, the division i raced this season, so now I am officially king of the scrubs. i didn’t invent the stupid category system
