3500 posts and Zwift didn’t hear anything, so no.
No there are over 3000 posts telling Zwift not to do what they just did.
No we are saying that there is something wrong, there is some parameter that is used incorrectly.
If it was one or two riders that was on the edge of the category that got bumped then we could explain it.
That’s the point, they aren’t doing anything close to what people suggested
It’s abundantly clear why Zwift won’t listen.
If there are any employees who understand racing and are interested in it, they have no authority within the company to do anything about it. Those in charge simply don’t care and have no interest in developing it as a e-sports platform. Sure, it’s good publicity to have some high-profile elite events, but that’s all it is.
277 posts ago, look at the happy tone from Flint… Wonder how his morning is going…
Maybe Troll, but every right to express his views whether misguided or not, bring it on as long as not personal
Seeing as he put this post up specifically to gather feedback, one would hope that an outpouring of negativity is is probably something to take on board.
I mean, he probably just woke up around an hour ago if he is in CA…
Why are workouts excluded from the categorization? I would imagine some riders’ best efforts occur in workouts.
Excluding workouts seems odd to me too. I do workouts in Zwift all the time but I do it as a free ride and just control my intervals manually so for me my workouts will be included in calculations while someone doing an official Zwift workout they won’t.
There I fixed it:
For someone not interested in arguing, you do seem to be doing a lot of it.
I would guess that evaluation of the test races, and whether category assignments are working, will be done by looking at the overall distribution of the field and where they placed and times, vs. how distributions have looked in the current system? If there’s an issue, then the parameters would get tweaked iteratively based on where they view anomalies.
Sure, but that involves a lot of assumptions that don’t need to be made. Most importantly, a lot of people that are put in a much higher category just won’t bother racing. If 10% of those riders take that approach, the results and analysis are then invalid.
I hope they can tweak it now. it’s clear for all to see that the categorisations are flawed. Either tweak now or fall back to zp cats would be my suggestion.
But continuing to promote these events to the wider race community while we know the autocat has a major flaw is just digging a bigger hole for themselves.
I’m not, but I’m done.
That’s a valid point, though of course nobody will know to what degree a lot of other riders, who otherwise wouldn’t have been moved, were also bumped up.
I do wonder if Zwift did any impact analysis or sizing – ie. a before/after snapshot of at least the ZP registered universe, to know beforehand, eg. “we expect X% of Cat Y riders to be up/down to Cats Q and R” etc…
The idea that they are at the “tweaking parameters” stage when there’s such a glaring flaw in the underlying structure is… optimistic, to say the least. There are no thresholds for W/kg and absolute watts such that X W/kg OR Y absolute watts makes sense as a category boundary.
