I couldn’t imagine sitting at set power with no changes for 60 minutes, the workout in the screenshot above would be extremely boring.

The shifts in gradient and gearshifts keep it interesting and closer to reality - even if the real Alpe d’huez is more steady in its gradients (ridden that a lot).

For the OP route badges are lucrative for XP, especially the big ones. London PRL Half is 1380XP and is a very easy course with only a short climb (done four times). You get the 1380 plus whatever XP for the distance you complete. Fast level up!

@Gerrie_Delport_ODZ - when you were on climb portal the other week in workout mode, did you get any bonuses at the arches?

No. You only get in in free ride mode.

Yeah, the wheel is special, it doesn’t behave like the other arches. You should get it every time up the Alpe whether you’re in a workout, or not. I sometimes do workouts up the Alpe, sometimes I just free-ride it, but I always get the spin-wheel regardless. Always works for me.
