I understood that resistance of the trainer is controlled by zwift on climbs. How to connect the trainer to zwift? As Tacx seems not to be supported at the moment how does it work with the supported devices? Needs the trainer to be connected as powermeter?

Currently for the smart trainer to be controlled by Zwift it does need to be paired as the power meter. In the near future you will be able to pair any power meter for power and additionally pair a smart trainer for variable resistance.
