I was 474, then the 30sec reset put me down to 321. Then I raced Dec 5 and got bumped to 325, then the latest fix they bumped me up to 337.
Gotcha. Iâm either deficient in my understanding of the desired outcome of the ZRS system, or naive in thinking that a change like this would be carefully planned and executed.
Either way Iâm not interested in sitting through a few additional races where Iâm dropped like a rock, in hopes that the latest and greatest algorithm sorts out my proper category.
Thanks to the community members for offering the explanation and saving me a few frustrating sessions.
Exactly. A bell curve is put into a linear looking scale between 1 and 1000. Since it was seemingly âeasier to understandâ as they, Zwift, found ZR.app scores confusing.
Since main population will be hovering around the same point (letâs assume the middle) the point gain there should be much larger then it is in the tails.
That they normalized scores on a 1-1000 scale is fine. However, it easily leads to this confusion. Assuming that is at play here.
So my score is now at 561, guess what Zwift show as your score after a race needs to be taken with a grain of salt seeing as I have now seen 3 different scores for myself after last nightâŚimmediately after the race I went from 570 to 554, an hour or so later I went to 558 now Iâm at 561
Can you explain whatâs going on Zwift with how points are gained/lost on this and the time processing race results etc
The scores recalculate every time someone crosses the line. The last finisher gets a big drop in points, with everyone else assumed to be a DNF until they cross the line.
Iâd assume if you look at the results youâll see a couple of people coming in a few minutes after you did.
shows they are using a linear line/curve to hand out points then, my position didnât change in relation to the ones that finished ahead of me and it looks like 9 DNFs, that then should make my score drop further as I effectively finished 48/52 not 48/61, I know thatâs not how zwift works but those 9 shouldnât be taken into consideration as they didnât cross the line
looking at very first ZRS race my score is 534 with the down arrow and flat line so assuming thatâs my seed minus 15% and as low as it will go, the 5min compound formula has me at 439âŚsomething is way off
Not very difficult, but it canât be done by the organiser and requires Zwiftâs help.
Cyclopathon uses pen widths of 100. e.g. 600-700, 500-600, 400-500, 300-400, 0-300
But to get there you have to choose to exclude the >700s which is fine because A pens are often empty anyway.
We still get the occasional flyer, but the racing is fun in narrower cats.
The bit I donât understand is how you could have such a high compound score but still be under the C threshold on zMAP w/kg
thatâs why i think theyâve completely cockwombled my score, I think its being based off V1 seed and my zmap at that time, using the compound calculation, on August 28th when i did the first race, it gives me 549 based off a 5min effort of 361w and 4.7wkg done in July and every subsequent result is based off this
that 5 minute effort dropped off around 3/4th of October right around v2 came in and then seeded me in the 400 mark
Your v3 seed is also based on 361W because the starting point of recalculation is 26tth September and is within 90days of your 5th July effort. All previous version you can forget.
sounds about right, cant be competitive in this pen so competitive racing is off the cards until the new year as a 5 month old effort still making my score high is great
Presumably a couple of bad results and youâll be down a pen, or you find races with different pen ranges.
Or ZRL runs for another week
Or you do ladder races or DRS winter warriors.
Theres really a smorgasboard of options.
my floor is still in the 520-690 pen, until my seed gets recalculated from my current 5min effort and drops it to the 440 area I am stuck where I am regardless of how many bad results I get
And the other options?
So you know your seed and it is above 610? Thats pretty strong, you sound like youâre in the right category assuming youâre not injured.
Race score of 600 so is that 4.9wkg up to date and accurate?
Not great either way, but might be the reason.
edit - The 4.9 is from April.
Presumably theyâd not done a hard effort before and theyâve now moved to a higher ZRS based on this effort.
I hope ZHQ are looking at a few things.
- looking back more than 90 days
- moving riders to their seed not their floor when they set a huge pb like this.
Letâs agree ZRS is a work in progress
I almost exclusively use Zwift for racing. I am nearing 400 races in total. Through the past years my zftp has been around 2.9, and I have always been a C cat. It has worked beautifully. I have felt well matched in most races. During start up in the fall, it was always an issue that riders coming back from a summerbreak outdoors had had their zftp reset so they were allowed in CEâd races eventhough their w/kg was way above 3.2. But I lived with that. Now, you have suspended w/kg entirely, and I am well screwed. Rider levels suddenly differ hugely, and my competitors can suddenly average well above 4.0 w/kg even in CEâd races. I think we will see that from now on there will always be a huge w/kg spread in all races throughout the season. There will always be zwifters, who do not do many races, that will come along and be allowed to overmatch all the other riders in the starting pens. This will continuously ruin the races. I am currently taking part in the Danish Cycling Federationâs winter cup. Their start pens are CEâd based on narrow w/kg and this works much, much better. The avatars are much more evenly matched and the races are exciting. I think you would find that if you allowed more organisers to do what the Danish Cycling Federation does, riders would overwhelmingly vote with their sign ups in favor of w/kg pens. I want w/kg back!
