That would make sense to me, but is that what you’re seeing? It seemed to me that I was seeing a pattern where everyone at above the half way point was going up in racing score, everyone below seemed to drop regardless of the racing score of the people they beat. Hopefully it’s more based on who was above and below you.
For instance, in the last link I posted the one rider at 9th place who was promoted to 522 (up to the next category above 520), actually didn’t beat anyone who had a higher score than 491, they ranked 9th in the race, and were not even in the final sprint. So they didn’t contest a podium, didn’t beat anyone above their rank, but somehow got ranked out of this category by a 9th place finish while the people who did contest the sprint will continue to be in the same lower category next time.
