Zwfit points is bad for B’s. Every race I have to compete with A’s and A+ in the advanced category just beacuse I am an OK B. I am a million miles from A+ and literally get hammered every race which is starting to become tiresome. Attached is an example of a race this morning, where it is won by a very good A+, I am lumped in as an A, but defintely just a B. How is this system more equitable than what we had previously, this must be wipespread for B’s!? Even more funny is my race score does not go down after a spanking like this! I am stuck in Advanced!
You were 26 seconds off first place.
The schools I was sent to, I had spankings that lasted far longer than that ![]()
Awesome response Ian! In fairness 26 seconds on a race is a lifetime, that was a good one to hang on the draft! Ultimately B should not be placed in an A+ it’s just daft.
you have been losing points too, just not many… this is becuase the ZRS system doesn’t work so great. You also race 3 or 4 times a week, which is a lot in my opinion.
Yes normally 3 times, the score system is incredibly flawed, if you like racing and are a B you just can’t compete. The only up is when the rare B race comes along I am certainly in the mix!
you may just need to be more selective on what races you do then, like the Rhino Racing Short Crits, the top level range is 690 - 850
You did win a couple of A races, I don’t see why you’re complaining. Maybe add some more training instead of racing…
Crikey you are going back quite a bit, you should also check how many were in the race and how many A and above. I think you will see a different story. I am complaining that as a B you should not be placed with A+ if you disagree fine, but the idea of points was to provide a more level platform, this is miles from accurate.
Thanks Mike, to be honest haven’t seen any of those, it might be the time I generally race. Will keep an aye out, have managed to find a couple of B category races but they are few and far between.
this is a good example of why they have to lump all the people above 650 or 700 together, otherwise the fields will be so small, probably getting better now as the northern hemisphere gets into winter, but during the summer the race field sizes are super small.
The Rhino Crits are also combining the A and B pens now so you can fight it out with whomever you see on the road.
I’m done commenting on ZRS for now since it’s all been hashed over already, nothing further to add to the discussion.
Understand trying to make fields bigger. B usually had decent numbers, A not so. So yes bigger fields with bigger disparities. Unfortunately.
What’s your race score? There are c pace riders with over 650 in wtrl
758 is my score
Sorry was Not Nik picking just saying perception and reality often different. Ultimately my statement that the current points system is flawed is true. Unless you think B racing A+ is a nice equitable race.
It has no doubt made me fitter it’s just starting to grate the a 52 year old nearly 53 B cat racer cannot actually race with people of the same. I am not A and a million miles from any A + giving it all. You are happy to flick through my results not trying to convince you or twist a story line. Love Zwift don’t own a real bike, old runner trying to keep fit and enjoying competition but does not think the revised system is close to a level platform for racing which it tries to be.
Your 90 day best 5mins, 344W at 68.5Kg, gives you a ZRS seed score of ~612, according to ZWIFT ZRS v3 by VirtuSlo
The fact that your ZRS is currently 758 shows whether through selective race route choices, or pure luck, on average you must have finished in the top half of your pen more often than you’ve finished int he bottom half.
ZRS has many flaws that make me baffled how it’s still being used ~17 months on from it’s initial release.
One of them is simply finishing ahead of racers in your pen that you should always have beaten on paper, gives you a score increase. This wouldn’t happen under a vELO racing system, you would only gain points by beating someone you weren’t expected to beat and they put in an effort deemed reasonable by the algorithm.
Here’s your last race showing on zwiftpower (Advanced Brompton) from a vELO perspective, which I believe now shows everyone who participated, not just those registered on zwiftpower (non-zwiftpower registered racers are “private player.” Under vELO, you should have finished 15th, rather than 19th…

You’re a B under Category Enforcement system, but not far from a zMAP or zFTP promotion iirc.
Under the old Zwiftpower system before CE, you would be in the A pen, from having at least three races with a best 95% of 20mins above 4W/Kg.
Thanks Steve very informative, you know Zwift at a much higher level than I, so that really helps give me some perspective. I know I am pretty high in B, at some stages in the last 5 years been in A for a short while, but never stayed there, I guess B+ or A- is where I am at. Most of the time I can hang on until the last few kms then just get left for dust! Thanks again for your feedback.
