Zpower users need to be respected

Btw my ego is fine and not all 71 yo are in age care😋

Yeah, for the 7 years I have been on Zwift, there is always a former runner who claims his front group cycling performance is due to years of running and not Z Power.

I tried to make my Z Power set up accurate or at least consistent.
I could not do so even though it appeared that doing so should be an easy fix.

There is a reason why you almost never see Z Power set ups anymore.

As a runner, you will understand this analogy.
Back in the 50’s and 60’s, the fast kids wore PF Flyers. Basketball players too.
There is a reason why you would not do so today.
You don’t need $200 running shoes but PF Flyers wont do.

Z Power is grossly inaccurate.
You can (and have the right to) ride at the front of a group or race.
The other riders can (and have the right to) complain that your performance is grossly exaggerated.

Have fun.

It really depends on the details of what people are saying. Is it complaining, or is it abuse? I don’t pay any attention to complaints but if it’s abuse that’s another matter. The suggestion to disable in-game chat seems like a good one to me.

Paul, you’re right.
There is no place for abuse.

We all need to remember what one person sees as constructive criticism can be considered abusive by another.
There is also a slippery slope of comments getting meaner.

That’s true, and the OP has now commented to that effect that ZPower can be wildly inaccurate.

Other riders are well within their rights to complain about it - but better for them all to report this with accurate and detailed information.

I’m glad I’ve always used a smart trainer of some sort - it’s just more realistic to have the feedback when the gradient changes.

If it wouldn’t cost me a bucket load of money on shipping I’d send my old Tacx Neo (still working fine but not used) to the OP and then this case will be closed. Actually, it looks like the OP might be not too far from me

Since you want to be like that, let’s see now. I just ride these IRL because I like them and it’s an escape from my normal life:

CĂŽte 2000, Col du Glandon (twice done), Col Aravis (twice done), Colombiere (twice done), Col de Romme (twice done), CĂŽte de Domancy, Col des Saisies (twice done), Cime de la Bonnette, Col de Vars (both of them on the same day), Col du TĂ©lĂ©graphe, Col du Sarenne (twice done), Col du Galbier, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col de Brous, Col de Brouis, Col de Madeleine, Les Deux Alpes, Guillestre-Risoul 14km TT, Col D’Izoard, Col du Granon, Col de la Loze, Courchevel from MoĂ»tiers, Passo Pennes, Passo della Erbe (twice), Passo Lavaze, Passo san Pellegrino, Passo Valles, Passo Costalunga, Renon Plateau, Passo Gardena, Passo Sella, the climbs around Innsbruck (like in Zwift).

I don’t race in Zwift, I don’t do events either.

It’s just a means to get fitter and be faster on my real bikes. Or was, now it’s a means to try and fix up my broken body. Is it such a terrible wrong that I believe that people should be honest on the platform? If I see blatantly dodgy performances I will quietly report them.

I never claimed that my performance in Zwift is becausestrong text of my fitness. I have already admitted that zpower gives me a superior advantage and I don’t have delusions of grander . The only reason I am using zpower is because my smart trainer is not working and (2) I am trying to get max double points in the short time I have available to me. This is why I go as fast as I can . 90 % of the time I don’t finish an event. The reason I am talking about my low heart rate is because people have accused me of cheating ( as reflected by my low heart rate) some have even accused me of using an e-bike

Thank you all for taking time to respond to my complaint ( yes I do know the difference between a complaint and an insult) . I will take a lot of the advice on board and just ignore insults.[quote=“Philippe Donnadieu, post:26, topic:615692, full:true, username:Philippe_Donnadieu”]

Smart trainers are inaccurate as well. There are many ways to make you look better than you are on a smart trainer.

A BIG thank you to all the people who took the time to respond to my inputs on this forum . I will take some of this valuable advice on board. Take care

@Philippe_Donnadieu , I think the main thing to remember is you are on zwift for YOUR benefit, not the benefit of others, so do things the way you want to get the best results for you

Good advice . Thank you

Sure, but you can try to make things more accurate.
You don’t have to be in the front of a fast group ride.
You can complete all the routes and get all the points in a free ride.
You are choosing to be in front of the group ride and complaining that people think your performance is exaggerated.
It is. A low heart rate would confirm this.
Yes, your heart rate is unique for you and we can not really compare HR between different people.
But what is not unique is people from other sports, on inaccurate trainers, thinking they can hold 300 -350 watts for 10-15 min and have a hr of 150.

Also, it’s interesting they come to the forums for support then get offended.

So what’s the learnings? You will try to make the performance readings of your Zpower trainer device more accurate?

If you don’t, how can you get the benefits of an accurate workout?

Do you really want to find a solution or are you just stirring a hornet’s nest?

If you need a smart trainer, I have an old Tacx Neo I don’t use. It works fine. If you are the person I think you are, you aren’t far away and something could be arranged.

Are Sprint/KOM jerseys awarded on the ToW Group RIdes? I can see the argument that they aren’t races but I think folk can be a bit aggrieved if they’ve put in a good effort on a timed segment only to see themselves way off the top rung by dint of someone using a knowingly-innacurate Zpower setup.

true, but it isn’t very likely that everybody on a smart trainer isn’t cheating. It’s one of the unfortunate things about Zwift that some people cheat to win (KOM, race, sprint etc) and there isn’t much that can be done about it. Just picking on people with a Zpower setup won’t fix the problem. As Martin Reading suggested above " I think the main thing to remember is you are on zwift for YOUR benefit, not the benefit of others, so do things the way you want to get the best results for you" On that basis I’m getting a Zpower setup too!

I am not offended by the responses given in this forum. As I said . I am not going into races using zpower . I understand why riders would get upset if someone like me goes right through them. What I didn’t understand is why people get upset on non race event. My only goal on zpower has been to get max double points as quickly as possible. I only have between 30 to 45 minutes to spare during the day. I know that my generated watts is grossly exaggerated. When my smart trainer is fixed I will go back to group activities which I really enjoy. I don’t like abuse while Zwifting or doing any other activities. It has nothing to do with the fact that I am an old athlete coming from a different sport. Don’t generalise please.

Chris read my last response . Thanks for your offer but I already have a smart trainer which I will go back to when it is fixed. I have a Garmin Tacx . What is the best gear set you can put on it?

Chris read my last two responses . That’s the snswety

I had mine with 11 speed 11-28 gearing because the bike that went on it had Shimano DA9000. It was an old Giant TCR Advanced SL1.

Eventually wore out that bike - lovely thing but really high mileage in the end. Still have the frame but no group set on it.

Why does this matter so much to you? Everyone has limitations in the time and energy they are prepared to put into Zwift and so rate at which they increase points.
