Who does RS cater to and what is the point?

What is Zwift to you and why are you here? To me, it used to be a much more entertaining way to get my indoor training done. I almost only do races because they used to be the most fun. It was easy to understand what zftp meant and when races were CE’d based on that, the starting pens seemed to be pretty evenly matched. But then something happened. A new racing score was introduced and the transparency vanished in a flash. Now, all zftp-categories are mixed together in the same pens and it is very difficult to figure out how avatars get promoted and relegated. Personally, I placed like this:

in a recent race and that performance got me promoted to C cat while most of the avatars in front of me were not. Go figure.
Yesterday I did a C-race, this was the winner:

I can see that his performance got him promoted, but I can also see that it was only barely, and I expect him back in C cat shortly. His latest performance, as you can see, was 3,9 w/kg in january and his zftp makes him an A rider. But somehow Zwift decided that he and I would be a good match in a race…
It probably won’t surprise you, that I quickly was dropped from that peloton. I was completely spent halfway through the race, and I did not feel like doing the remaining +30 minutes of the race in that state, so I dropped out. I guess, you have to complete the race, if you wish for the algorithm to recalculate your RS (I guess I will now have to do that every other race I do because Zwift apparently find that I am right on the RS category threshold). So I am still a C cat and will meet several of this guy’s peers in my next race.
This is no fun at all to me. I do not know how the ‘winner’ feels about it. Maybe he is happy.
How do you guys feel? Is Zwift much better to you now, than it used to be? I am personally ready to look for alternative apps.

there is no such thing as a c cat race anymore, its all based on your race score which is a compound score of your 5min raw watts/wkg and some other calculations based on trueskill

How about that miraculous weight loss!

6kg in 60days , 1.5lbs per week give or take, Mike think before posting. @Mike_Rowe1

Was that weight loss overnight or more likely after 2 months of workouts and Z2 riding ?

You can’t really see what weight he was at in other normal rides unless you go look through companion app screenshots and look at w/kg and power.

A few riders have been caught weight doping by that - some big name ones as well with huge changes in weight from one day to the next.

The weight of individual avatars is not important. It is how they are matched that matters. Are you guys happy about the new RS system?
Who actually thrives under this new domain? Do you all feel that you have benefitted? Is the racing better for you now?

Zwift games are getting guys who have not set good 5 min in the last 90 days, i had guy from sub 390 to over 480 in my race today, Zwift games nightmare for racing this week with ZRS

I don’t race zhq events in part because of this, but it really exposes probably the one easiest change that should be made to ZRS…if you break your 5 min power then you should nove to that seed not some amount below it.

If 100% of 5min seed score was the Racing Score floor, instead of 85%, new personal best 5mins would have more impact.

Not to mention, an awful lot of racers would be racing one pen higher if the floor was 100% seed score.

At the moment, someone with a 100% seed score of ~270 can have a run of bad results that drops them just under 230, the current threshold for the weakest pen in Tiny Races.

Nope, it has become terrible. Although I suppose happy folks aren’t likely to be here complaining on the forums  All we can do is provide data points. I am one, you are another.
