Racing might not be the thing that most Zwift users do based on Zwift’s telemetry, but perhaps if IV or another platform manages to move a few large race organizers over and provide a much more interesting/fun race experience with reasonable seeded categories, ELO based ranking, interesting types of races, better anti-cheat tools, great tools for organizers, live stats etc - it can really be the wedge that pushes critical mass to one of the other platforms to not have ghost-towns for race options.
So, maybe there’s more than just Zwift telemetry that should be brought into the race (or race organizer)-feature-prioritization meetings
I guess I’m the one. But I already closed my LinkedIn account a few years ago
Yes, I can’t provide any specifics like dates and other details just like you’d all hope for, but as far as I know the project is going as planned. I think it’s no secret that Zwift doesn’t like to do major changes during “peak season”. So just stay tuned…
give this a listen, interesting interview with the UCI and their reason.
Lack of branding flexibility is one reason amongst many.
I know we all think oil money just bought it, but zwifts lack of credible performance checking and in 2 races at the olympic esport test event the rider crossing the line first on screen wasn’t the winner!!
Any chance a more general update what is happening in zwift racing?
While ZRS is nice there is a whole list of things people have been requesting that would greatly improve the racing scene
To name a few we have been waiting years for,
Points races in game?
game modes e.g elimination.
Organiser tools…it’s still like 2015 and we have to send emails to change lots of things.
We can’t setup private events.
We can’t admin events like WTRL can.
TTT mode - any sign of wider access to clubs organisers?
Custom routes?
As much as i like zwift other platforms are improving so i’ll probably start to try out a few things with my club while i wait.
I can’t give you any exact update on what’s going on around those topics, but I can tell you I passed on your questions/feedback to who has authority on these matters.
If they didn’t do anything the pass 3 years around those ideas, odds are they are not working on those right after a massive layoff.
Typically they would consolidate down and kill off non essential projects. Focus on their cash cows projects (non racing).
They can easily do this by just churning out workout routines, creating new roads at a pace of 3km per month.
Nothing around racing is worthwhile to Zwift. It doesn’t have the critical mass numbers and it is a time sink. You have to have live support answering questions on CE weight issues, people cheating, sticky watts and a host of other time consuming problems. Your other 90% of users that don’t race, pay the same without taking up all this support bandwidth. From a financial side, racing a dead.
Can’t say they do it in a good way. They spend millions and cancel project last minute or right after launch.
Zwift Hub terminated.
Downhill racing.
Bounty Program.
I mean what has been the biggest change to racing in the last 5 years? 20 min power to CE? But CE is so fundamentally flawed, yet they spend next to no time making incremental improvement beside adding zMAP.
