Update on results based ranking, Zwift score etc. etc. etc.?

it was a joke that this is what the zwift staff still left are saying to each other :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m LOLing that some of you believe that there’s anyone left at zwift now who even knows that this was ever planned or discussed.

I feel that Zwift knew about that major L and introduced annual membership to avoid mass exodus of active users. They surely got me with this, but if by the end of my current subs this is still not figured out I’m our for alternatives. Some of of the alternatives are really good in racing and [soon] can be run on AppleTV if desired.

I find it hard to imagine what it’s like reading this as Zwift staff and not being able to say anything. Although tbh I probably wouldn’t care that much as I would be mainly focussing on my chrome tab that has LinkedIn open.

As much as I want this feature, I am going to give them more time to figure out the timeline and resourcing. It’s not like I expect them to release this feature and then not have to do more work on it. Despite their previous effort, this is still going to be a version 1.0 feature when it happens. I suspect they are still trying to figure out how to make it happen, so I see no point in snarking at the present situation and the lack of communication about it which is exactly what I would expect right now.

Yeah fair point. After 3 years we should give zwift some slack, can’t expect everything to be delivered at warp speed .

It’s said like Zwift’s layoffs were some great misfortune, not a deliberate choice because they made some pretty terrible decisions over the last few years. There’s still people there in charge of all of this, that could speak to it. They just choose not to.

I see the frustration and disappointment as a reasonable emotional response, but what I want is to help them get to the right place given their present situation, even if it’s self-inflicted. I want them to register my interest and feel my support. I don’t disagree with anyone who is irritated about how we ended up here or the lack of progress.

while i get your point the biggest frustration is the radio silence. I’d prefer them to come on here say because of the restructuring it’s been slightly reprioritised and might take a bit longer than say nothing.

Hopefully it does not go the same way as clubs when they made the lead on that redundant and clubs is now a wasteland of nothingness but there is only so long racers and organisers will put up with zero innovation in years when the competition is getting better rapidly.

Just based on the last launch, there will need to be an awful lot users brought with them onto a new system - that will be done by explaining the change, how it works, taking feedback (grumbles) and tweaking it…

None of that has even started yet. That can start now, tomorrow, 3 months ago etc.

If the belief is it will be right first time and where it is today or day 1 is where it will be after 3 months of feedback is living in a dream world.

It’s all so short/narrow sighted.

On that, how busy are the races on the other platforms? I’ve been on Zwift for 7 years, but have zero brand loyalty, especially with the continual urine taking of the racing community, poor strategic decision making, and glacial pace of development. Just never been motivated with the hassle of getting a new platform set up, as none seem to have the critical mass of riders.
If there is a guaranteed race around that peak UK sort of time (once my kids are down), I’d happy jump for a bit.

I’m probably not the best person to ask although might be tempted to start looking around a bit more. other platforms are really not that hard to setup.

Probably a case of picking the busiest race of the evening if it suits. Some also use bots

If you race UK peak times then most other platforms have at least one well attended race.

I went and did an iV Omnium race last night. Elimination, short iTT, Kierin then as 12km hilly points race. Was pretty good graphics aside. The having to slow down for corners to maximise exit speed is quality.

Maybe this is the busiest event on there but was all real riders and 20+ in my pen.

I do think more and more racers will get frustrated with the lack on anything from zwift.

I’m on the beta for MW TV too as I’m trying to expand my options.

I have a feeling that one of the winter race series I’m involved with will be moving to IndieVelo next year mainly because they support all the different race formats that are wildly complicated to do in Zwift. Plus we’ve had more than a few times this winter where ZHQ didn’t set up the event correctly (steering off when we wanted it on, rubber banding on for a race, etc.) and hardly any controls on the event organizer side. Then trying to score races with segments, sprints, kom’s and dealing with Zwiftpower. It creates a lot of time on the backend to organize a race series and with little help from Zwift. We have on average 50 - 60 people racing each week, many of them are also already racing on iV so it making the move look really appealing.

Thats a pretty valid point. Last nights point race had neutralised start with a bot that if you over took it slowed you down, then after 2km bot pulled of and race was on. Every arch point were awarded live with a live leader board of all riders. I guess I took it for granted as it just made sense. Of course Zwift offers none of this and organisers scrabble to do innovative things with poor tools.

All it will take is a few organisers to move and suddenly there will be a ground swell and riders will move.

If iV get an tv or ios version out that will open it to more riders.

That’s exactly the things zwift needs to implement and quickly before organisers start to move.

Organisers already have it tough with the lack of tooling and zhq promoting stupid series like the zwift games which has zero innovation from the monthly zracing. All zwift games is going to do is further kill community events to the point organisers get fed up putting on events which i’ve already heard grumbles from multiple sources.

totally, I did some race series organising for Galaxy for a while and the amount of hoops to jumps through to set up a race series.

Then all the quirks of ZP and bits that don’t work as they are supposed to and require some intervention after the event to make it results work as expected.

Starting to think that Zwift only want the causal racers and don’t want the hassle of proper e-sports

probably tied into zwift losing the uci esports world championships to mywoosh

I’m watching the latest Wrap episode and even Nathan is getting frustrated from both a broadcaster and racer POV. ā€œPoints for points races should just be there… shouldn’t have to wait 15 minutes for the WTRL site to updateā€¦ā€
