But that’s not my scenario. To use your example, in both cases, the RP is doing 200w, and I am sitting just behind. As you say, I might need to ride at 180w to keep pace if it’s just the two of us. The issue is that if there’s 20 riders in front or 20 riders behind, I need to ride at different watts with me and the RP in the same relative position. The RP has a fixed published power in all conditions, so why does mine vary in the same position relative to the RP?
