Yes, I get that the grouping will be less important, but how do you see the PD changes affect the ZRS seed and floor calculations?
CE cats mean close to nothing and never have. and legacy stuff before it was worse still. show me an (anonymous) power curve of a rider with over 600pts in ce C that doesnāt have either a 900w 30s or a 12wkg 30s or at least something in that type of region. people dont realise how serious that type of ability is
Yeah, seed calculation is busted as of now. Somehow, this guy ended up in E pen in the tiny race (zone 2) today and swept all but one race. Plenty of race history, a solid B-rider, but somehow they get sorted into E pen and wins by 10+ secs in the last 3 races. My only guess is that he has abysmal anaerobic power, so the lopsided seed calculation sorts him into Pen E.
There is still a disproportionate amount of weight put into anaerobic power in seed score than there needs to be. ZRS, in my opinion, is the biggest slap in the face for people with strong anaerobic power but an average aerobic capacity. As a rider in that profile, I much rather prefer original wkg categories to ZRS categories, even though I am mid-pack rider in an original B category (3.2-4wkg).
Well, seeing how he hasnāt done a race since April⦠probably has everything to do with it.
And only had just done a very high, but still C, pace ride the other day; with no data since April.
This is the complaint from the previous thread about pulling data for more than 90 days.
Definitely not connected; and what youāre referring to is purely just āracing craftā (craft is a loose term for āskillā which is already a very loose term here).
Which once again literally just enforces why 30s / sprint powers are an important metric in the grand scheme of things; along with end-results.
Because yes; itās quite easy to sit in for an entire race and have low w/kg, and smash the end and win. This is why CE was bad, and why ZRS will hopefully one day ābe good.ā
Because itās incredibly easy for anyone to sit in CE categories, and do exactly that, and never be upgraded, and put in tons of wins under their belts (and they usually do)
Inadvertently this brings another issue to the fore.
That rider is on a spin bike as a good guess - limited scope to sprint on them but they can maintain a solid wattage (real or not) for a long period, so produce flat power curves.
These riders will now dominate the lower end as they ride away from people.
You keep repeating this, but they will not be able to launch that sprint when guys drop them like stone on the first bump. In CE, all have similar W/kg and can handle the hills similarly, but with ZRS it is all over the place.
15 and 30 sec is important in other parts of the race, but you usually donāt have to do max if you keep calm (except for point races).
So i just gain 10 point for coming in 2nd place, the kicker is there was only 2 riders total in the race lol. @S_A_ccc @Paul_Southworth
Ok, though it appears that his racing score went down after these performances.
And, given that these TinyRaces are all under 10 minutes, there wonāt be anything updated on that metric. His history shows capable of 9wkg 30s power.
Finishing at the bottom 50% be like that sometimes
Iām not understanding how youāre finding these results, unless you were part of the race⦠(or following someone who was)
Okay I found them through someone elseā¦
The little up or down arrows that appear in the Zwift(dot)com eventās page results
This is just rubbish.
The top end of category all have similar power due to zmap and zftp confines, but not all of the riders are in that position within the category or race.
Plenty of riders get dropped at the first sign of a bump within CE now, but that isnāt an issue for you today or yesterday, but now you are impacted by it, itās an issue tomorrow?
If this is such an issue, why have you not been calling this out previously?
All seems a bit looking after oneās own interests.
Yeah, I got that; but⦠hard when everyone has their profile locked lol, found it eventually.
(I wish this was easier to do; ie a link from ZP to Zwift to see results, versus this convoluted solution)
I see down arrows; but I also donāt see the score going anywhere (maybe will overnight?)
Perhaps it went down because he was surrounded by people lower than him?
Iām not actually entirely sure; other than potentially his seeding was readjusting to his efforts which (obviously) were decreasing.
Again this is why I hate the Tiny races, they make a mess out of the stats.
This comes with broadness of categories, which has been beaten to death.
Thereās no fix beyond splitting the categories, which then in turn potentially leads to less signups when thereās nobody to race against.
But for the record; is also being tested, or was, with the 10 split cats over two unique events.
Do you think it is all about my situation? Itās not. Itās just that this is so obvious to me. Iām not sure why you canāt see that putting racers with different W/kg abilities in the same race is going to give half of the racers an average to bad experience in everything but a flat course.
I looked at the results from the Tiny races today. I found that avg. W/Kg was the best predictor for finishing position, not 30 sec, even on the flat courses.
If they could use 1, 5, and 10 min W/kg, it would give a much more balanced score.
lol. nobody gonna notice for another 2 months at least though until they get all this power seed score stuff off their chest
i mention it because nobody picks up that type of power by accident⦠they trained for it. things are a little less clear further down the score range because you have beginners and experienced riders who are maybe just be older or any number of reasons
nobody is jumping on a bike and doing huge sprints though without some type of training. you need to be strong to do that and if youāve trained in any semi-serious capacity then youāre experienced. and if youāre strong then you donāt really need the category system to be on your side or worry about whether it is or isnt anyway. not having to worry about stuff like that is part of what becoming strong is about
just my opinion though
So you mean that 30 sec is an indirect indicator of other abilities? That is a bold claim.
not even that. itās a direct indicator of how strong you are. thatās why i like training for these types of efforts myself
