Racing Score Updates [Aug 22 2024]

Great thanks, was issue also preventing scores going upward? Eg, not seeing much in the way of low 100s scores either. Kinda looked like 99 was a magnet working both directions to some degree.

it look like my Race Score drop by like 40 points , i did not do race in score? was there update ?

I was 698 yesterday and 616 today.
I am in favor of this

It works as long as the people you were racing against didn’t get the same drop

@Ryy given the significant changes to people’s scores, can the graph of the score distribution be updated?

These three metrics could be incredibly effective. But even better solution would be if Zwift decides to invest in an Artificial Intelligence model trained on full power duration curves and extensive data from all races. This approach would provide not only accurate pen allocations (provided that race organisers will not interfere with boundaries created by AI) but also include racing styles tailored to different terrains. The investment would certainly be less than a one-time payment for Mathieu van der Poel’s Zwift bike advertisements on Eurosport during the Tour de France.

How can I get some of this. I’m missing out on the big points drop everyone else is getting today. I’m tired of racing the A+ riders just because I can race well on the flats. My 3.8 ftp is no match for the top racers when this get hilly.

you need more watts, but i run out of watts today. and die on hill. @Casey_Schumm_X

Yes, they already have all the data and metrics needed to predict performance, so I’m not sure why they haven’t explored creating machine learning models. These models could also serve multiple purposes, such as rider classification, race recommendations, training advice, and matchmaking, etc.

This is the new normal if I read some of my fellow posters here correctly. It is fun, dynamic, and ā€œshakes the pens upā€.

Echoing Ole’s sentiment: I think you should ask Zwift to help ā€œnullifyā€ climbers in hilly races. Far too many won by climbers. Let’s give the 100kg guys their moment to shine, they are customers as well!

I mean, there are the start pens at the top of the Alpe and Ven Top. About time Zwift puts them to use. Downhill is best hill.

And some catchy slogan like ā€œZwift racing goes downhill (this week)ā€. Great marketing potential.

ā€œā€¦ - Fun is Fastā€!

Would be nice to hear what has been changed that explains yesterdays drop on almost everyone.

I did the top group race score Tiny Races, finished 5th, 13th, 18th, and 18th. I settled out at 702 after those.
Then I did a Jurassic Coast race score event, had a dropout on the Titans Grove KOM, finished 30th maybe and it dropped to 698.
When I looked at Zwiftpower last night I was the score was 616

I went back and looked at the race score history and the number for me plummeted through the whole history.
My power has jumped nearly 35 watts across the board since the start of this and all of the power PRs are from July 14th or so to now.

I should be in the top group with my race results. Now I have a lot of room to have fun with!

I wonder if maybe this issue and fix is maybe remapping across all scores somehow?

Could be. Zwift also said in week 2 of the testing there were some flaws with the seeding of the heavier sprinters so that might also be solved. But its hard to tell if there is no communicating what has changed or fixed.

I think as this is still in Labs status, that model and programming shifts will be occurring on the fly as they fine-tune the product. Not sure it would help to get a notification each time they adjust something?

I agree that we don’t need to know every tweak but we are asking to understand why similar riders are not getting similar changes.

Brain and I were within 20 race score. He is slightly higher on his power curve and we both have very similar (very successful) race score racing history. Overnight he dropped nearly 80 points and now sits 100 points below me and I didn’t move at all. It would be helpful understanding what would cause a change on him and not me. He is a full cat under me now and the metrics we are told are being used don’t support that gap in our points.

I support what they are doing but when we see similar riders react in different ways with points it would be helpful to share some details why that is happening. People will lose faith in the system if they see these random changes without some understanding or consistency in why people changes.
