New zwifter cadence and clips

I’m new to Zwift although I’ve been riding my whole life, more for transportation, some for fun. Recently got zwift ride for overall fitness.

My natural comfort is low cadence 60-75 at high gear. But zwift workouts and reading suggest higher cadence may help. I can do 90-100 and even 110 for short periods, but don’t feel in great control. Wondering if clips or toe cages might be the answer for me but never used them.

I would venture to say that MOST people are clipped in and yes, once you get into the higher cadences, it very much helps to be clipped in.

See if you can find some old toe clips (cages) to see how they feel (although they are less comfortable than true clipped in (clipless) pedals).

Clips are always a good idea… they don’t take any time to get used to indoors and you will be able to do the complete cycling pedaling stroke more easily.

Using them IRL can be more difficult to get used to but you will find they are well worth it.

Your cadence will improve as you have more control.

Clipless pedals and shoes with appropriate cleats are a real benefit for riding really fast, you are so much better in control.

In Zwift as well you’ll find them useful. IRL try them in less risky / safe situations where you can safely practice. An empty parking lot or a firm grassy field would also be okay.
