Do people actually cheat their weight?

Thanks! As suspected both my weight and height are doing everything they can to slow me down :frowning:

93 kgs (atm but losing steadily)
and 1.91cm

Same here! 1.92 and 89 kg now. Have lost quite some weight already. Losing height is proving to be more difficult however

The question is more do people reduce or higher their weight?

I guess many people reduce their weight because real life slip stream dynamics don’t work in-game. If so many small riders would absolutely get their heads explode by trying to chase some heavy athlets (85 to 95 kg) smashing 6 to 8 w/kg in the flat into their pedals.

what is the best way to report a weight and height doper?

How do you know they are weight doping?

It’ll be kinda funny (well not really) to imagine the top brands in smart trainers actually come out with a weighing scale built into their trainers and Zwift is able to calculate real time weight.

But still, cheaters are going to cheat and will find ways to cheat.

You know, there is always 2 sides to every story. Do I cheat, no. But I always look for the other view on issues. Take the jungle route resistance… I like it and see no problems, just get new data, done. Back onto the weight issue. I can see someone new to cycling weighing enough and not in great shape being crushed every single day as he rides in Zwift. He’ll get passed by every cyclist on Zwift. It would be very demoralizing. I can certainly see someone like this lowering their weight to make the GAME more fun and provide motivation as they can keep up with some people on Zwift and get a great workout.

If you race for a high placement then no, you should not lower your weight. However, if you lower your weight to come in the bottom 10% in a D race and have some fun, who cares.

I don’t agree with winning by cheating. I am for someone lowering their weight to have fun and stay motivated. Zwift can be intimidating to a newby. Just make sure when you make a statement about cheating that you remember there are other reasons people lower their weight on Zwift. It isn’t always about cheating.

Hi @p_schwartz

I do see your point, people use Zwift for different reasons. But here is my counterpoint lets say this become the norm for people to lower there weight to feel competitive then more and more will do it, because now the 10kg does not give you a bottom 10% anymore so you have to subtract 20kg, soon every D rider will be a C.

What I would like to see is zwift group riders with similar abilities into races. Imaging entering a race with a 1.2w/kg FTP and racing with people of the same FTP you will have a super hard race but you know you have the ability to win if you race smart.

I agree completely about racing. I’m just talking about daily workouts free riding around Zwift. Please feel free to lower it all you want to have fun. You are not cheating anyone.
