Coffee Break ON-OFF option

That’s a great idea!

I got it all along. The main difference is in how we (choose to) react to it. :+1:

I try to empathise with the other person, and as it costs me nothing I’m happy to have them remora-ing for a few minutes. Maybe I’m doing something nice/good, making their day a tiny bit better … and that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

And the time I dragged someone to a sprint segment PR was pretty funny.

Supposedly such a thing was almost a reality a long time ago but didn’t end up being released. Sigh.

Then the cheaters accounts can hide, but thats another thread

You don’t need wifi.

aren’t cheaters shadow-banned so we can’t see them anyway?

Could an incognito mode just let the xp and distance bots gain more of an advantage? Or does just turning off wifi give them that bonus?

I dont necessarily think that is true. I have used on rare occasion used coffee breaks from time to time but I only use them in group rides when there is a specific need (I drop a water bottle or towel) and I don’t use them on sprints or climbs. If Im on a climb and need to stop, I stop and then resume after I do what I need to do. I know several other zwifters who feel the same way. I agree that if the coffee break system is changed there will be some that complain. The benefit of that is that Zwift will be able to get a sense on the magnitude of those that abuse the system because those that complain are probably the ones coffee breaking on climbs.

After many comments similar to your own, the action Zwift took was to reduce the amount of time people wait before using the feature from 30 minutes to 5. I have no inside knowledge of their plans, but they’re well aware of your point of view and have been for a long time. If they had limited the feature to group rides at the beginning, I think that would have been an easy sell. Now it’s like trying to put the genie back in the bottle.

I see a difference between something you don’t like and “abuse”. I respect that you don’t like it, it’s entirely fair feedback.

What’s the issue with using a coffee break specifically on a climb vs. on the flats?

good question.. watts are watts, and the timespan of 3 minutes is the same no matter the terrain.

More useful on climbs because less draft and people push harder because humans

Because at the moment, the user with the coffee break gets random bursts up to 59km/h on 10% gradients. This happens very frequently. That has been reported, but people will complain if it is fixed.

Surely you must see the problem there? It is a huge advantage and they go far ahead.

I would have to be 30kg and doing who knows what huge power to even go 30km/h up the same gradient in comparison.

Maybe there should be a Zwift-Pro account option or membership tier that disables gamification functionality, is stricter on bots, has heuristics to check for weight doping, disables availability for coffee breaks, has Pro-exclusive races, clubs, etc.

This will make non-pro races lots of fun. One way to Make Racing More Exciting™.

If the folks in the races will like the greater freedom for bots, weight hacks etc remains to be seen.

Why don’t you put this is a feature request here:

People can vote for it.

Actually, perhaps the above reply can be split off into a feature request topic?

Take a breath Chris. At the end of the day Zwift is just a game that riders enjoy for different reasons and in different ways. As long as it gets people riding and exercising then it’s good.

Now I can’t wait for that reply :grin:

I don’t think that will work with Chris. I sometimes get worked up on small things that I find annoying or want change and others don’t even notice but Chris is on another level.

He has a clear thought about cheating cq taking advantage of game flaws and game options and expresses that in almost 80% of his posts on this forum, he even turns off his Internet while riding on Zwift so he dont has to see them and I admire his determination on this. Although I dont think he will get far with Zwift since for them in the end it is about the money.

We could say that he should take a breath and let it go, but I dont see that happening and it might just be good that he continues his modern time Don Quichotte battle. If we all would just take a breath nothing would be changed.
