Brilliant - back to racing I go. Cheers Marc (and James).
47.2 kg and 160 cm tall; kerching! We have a winner
Where would you suggest we draw the line with regards lightweight riders?
Iām 57.4 kg, 175 cm tall with an FTP of 184W (3.20 W/kg). Iām cat C, based on both the old best-of-3-FTP and the new CE system. I get beasted in most C-cat races. Should I be forced into B because of my weight?
You should race where the new system formula puts you without a weight protection, which for many is based on your W/Kg Critical Power.
That might well mean you stand a better chance of a good result on hilly courses.
Is that 187W from 60mins? My best 60mins indoors in the last 60 days is 239W at 80-odd Kg (2.89W/Kg on 9th March)ā¦ Making me a mid C.
State of this hero, who even entered and won a CE event recently and yet considered it fine to help spoil a C race this evening alongside another B. Even more daft is that it was a points race, so their sprints through the sectors and to the line etc were literally meaningless.
The sooner it rolls out by default the better, because as you say until thereās a critical mass of CE races, sandbaggers are going to gravitate to the others.
TFC really need CE my 2 cent.
Since some people on here have commented on my race series Iāll explain.
TFC Friday consists of four races.
Two of those races already use CE, The D Races, they also use a DQ for going over limits due to the format being used.
The other two races will go to CE after the present series, there is a reason for this which which is quite understandable if you think about it and who the series is aimed at. (4 races to go). Apart from that I consider it poor form to change rules mid series.
The Mad Monday Series Admin team have already been in contact with ZHQ and it was explained that due to the split Cat scenario it would not be possible to use CE at this time.
You should race where the system puts you.
My advice to everyone you gets dropped from their group is to race mass start races.
That way you can ride with the riders in the next group down and you wonāt have to ride alone.
If you race in a race that shows all riders but has staggered starts, you can hang with your group as long as possible then slip back to the next group.
Either way, I think it is important to have races with all classes visible.
Disclaimer: Iām old and slow and donāt want to ride alone.
Looks like the 2nd place finisher is the same.
Also, he has some interesting wt changes.

the āweight protectionā in the sense of a watt floor is necessary is because of women and children who tend to be light for obvious reasons cannot do repeated anaerobic efforts like fully grown adult men. itās a physiological fact. with that said, while zwift have not announced it, it has been lowered recently and iāve yet to see anyone link an unfair performance in a category race since
zwift power categorisation only really struggles to find a fair placement for someone when you get people who are strong and light (this was absolutely true under the 3x95% rule, i have years of personal experience taking advantage of this āfeatureā and truthfully i fully intend to take advantage of it for the next few years also for the simple reason that power capped races produce cleaner training graphs), but there are less of those people around than you think and most of them are up and around A+ prem league tier regardless.
i donāt like this way people only seem to look at the w/kg bar and ignore the raw watt bars on the right of peopleās zwift profiles. a sub 200w FTP is exactly that. anyone in B or A capable of a 600w minute, which is a lot of them, could have a guy like that off the back in less thanā¦ wellā¦ a minute
Fantastic news.
Many thanks.
your little full of yourself 1st race started on Friday 1 April 2022 , it was by mid march CE was roll out to all admin.
what your saying your leaders in the race all full of sand, dont feel like stop them ?
Play nice.
well i am
I donāt really race but I like the idea of tighter category boundaries. Do the words āat this timeā imply that CE will be set up by ZHQ so that race organisers can choose different CP and MAP criteria, to those laid out in the original post, in the future?
Thatās the idea. Quite a bit to sort before we get there though.
Can somebody post the email and required info for having ZHQ or ZP fix or delete erroneous ride info.
A warning to those using Kinetic trainers and having difficulty calibrating with the app.
If you Ride with an incorrectly calibrated trainer your power may push you up a cat.
Previously, you could ride non race events and not worry about your Cat and even then, it took 3 events.

you keep brining up training whilst racing, how many who actually race treat it as training? the fact you are sandbagging and knowingly sandbagging seeing as you had a good moan previously about having to race A cat rather than B shows that the system isnāt working correctly especially with your power numbers for lightweight riders
1: most people. do you taper for a zwift race like you would a real race?
2: i donāt care what category i race in (though i will always race the lowest available to me) and if it wasnāt for people like me finding gaping exploits and beta testing the actual thing (free of charge btw) the system would be working a lot worse than it is
3. I am an A category rider
