i think the intent is to keep it reasonably vague. paul is right i think, but that specific clause was added in to stop a certain type of behaviour that probably does not affect the vast majority people who are just using the system as intended, most of the time

i think the faq, specifically the one under “more info” next to our fitness metrics on our feeds, covers the broad strokes quite well. it doesn’t cover the “why”, but I guess that’s a minor issue i have with it. the major issue i have with it is that it’s not that easy for people to find that faq if they don’t know where it is

It’s still not fixed. I refer a lot of people to that page and I keep having to give them the caveat that it says the opposite of what it means.

Anyone else noticed that public profiles on Zwift Companion (Android) will show a pen allocation change before that rider has refreshed their Zwiftpower profile?

Not checked if you can simply look up anyone to get this info after you think someone exceeded zMAP or zFTP thresholds during a race, or you have to have ridden the same event as them.

Thanks for the reminder. With the recent company “re-structuring” this topic got lost so I’ll follow up with whoever is in charge of the documentation maintenance.

Better question is why did it let them go down to D anyway?

Their last events in December are well within 90 days, and even those were top of Cat B / bottom of Cat A

Has anyone posted about getting a racing downgrade due to illness or injury since CE began two years ago, instead of having to wait 90 days?

My current theory is this racer discovered their old turbo was massively inflating their power numbers and they requested a pen reset after a repair or replacement turbo was bought.

I’m aware of people making the request but I don’t know how those requests are received. I imagine that people switching from zPower or wheel-on smart trainers to better equipment are a more common scenario (and those changes should be observable in the post-downgrade power numbers).

i believe zhq will do the first at their discretion. i wouldnt expect or ask them to confirm that though

the 2nd is probably what actually happened. as far as i can tell, which is pretty far, CE works fine. at least in the sense that all of the stupid stuff about CE is stupid by design

How can a pen D rider do 3.24W/Kg for 6mins and 3.22W/Kg for 6mins30secs in the same race according to processed data, with the zMAP threshold being 3.2W/Kg, but not get a zMAP promotion to C (when their zFTP is well above 150W)? :thinking:

Rider in question shows as still being D in Zwift Companion app (if they had been promoted but not refreshed their zwiftpower profile, it would show C in Companion).

You can’t see their zMAP values and you can’t know the weight used to divide that number, so the question is unanswerable. They’re certainly close to the category border.

Their weight is clearly shown in zwiftpower that was used for the race and their power profile shows this race as their 30 day best for 6mins and 6mins30secs, with the W/Kg clearly being over the 3.2 zMAP threshold.

Their power output improved fractionally from 5mins30secs to 6mins, the curve shows an uptick, so how can they possibly not get a zMAP promotion?

I’m sure this has been an issue before where power increases in that time frame. It’s a bug in the system? @S_A_ccc might know more about it.
