Zwift with type 1 diabetes

A question about exercising as a type 1 diabetic. I know someone who’s a bit older (69) and has been living single for a few years. This person doesn’t use an insulin pump and monitors their blood sugar levels with a sensor and insulin injector. I’ve noticed this person is becoming increasingly lonely. I still have an unemployed Wahoo Kickr Core and was wondering if I could give it away with a Zwift annual membership? It’s a social and sporty way to break up the day. But before I suggest anything stupid or get anyone in trouble, is it possible to do such an activity with this condition? Does anyone have experience with this?

Team Type 1 has a Facebook group

Thanks, I can’t view the content right now since I don’t use Facebook. But I’ll ask to take a look, as I have plenty of friends with access to Facebook.

There’s also a Team Type 1 club in the Companion app

Found on companion app, applied for membership. Thanks!

By the way I don’t think there is currently any way to gift a membership. Do not make the mistake of buying a Zwift gift card for that purpose since it will not work.

people with diabetes are encouraged to exercise, if that is what you are asking here.

I can probably solve the subscription issue somehow. At least to give it a try. Whether it’s a good idea is another matter. I do read that exercise is beneficial for people with this condition. But given the age and the fact that it concerns someone who lives alone, I’m cautious. The social aspect is more important. Exercising in your own safe environment, and perhaps among people with the same condition, is a positive thing to do.
