Zwift Velodrome

Running track is along the coast just off downtown, this one is south of Italian Villas.

It looks like it is just in front of the blimps nose in this

so a bit further up on the left after the turning for the epic KOM.

Yes, it’s in front of the blimp’s nose; what I didn’t notice at first is you can see from the image that it’s next to the wind farm, up in the air about as high as the wind farm turbines.

I think it’s a “where can we stick the track while we do initial tests” location rather than a “final” location.

being a former track rider, I vote yes… then provided it is done well. On the other hand, without using Zwift Play (you will have to find something else)

They could put it on top by the radio tower.
That will keep the crowd size down.

I think that would be a great place to put it - have the entry to it at the top of the radio tower climb and you have a nice Epic KOM warm-up ride.

You know it’s always important for track riding to be warmed up properly, so this would cover off that important detail.

would be nice if we could get an official statement from Zwift about the Velodrome. Is an idea? Will it be scheduled? Just in developement? Or fake?

certainly not fake but i agree would be nice to have a statement although zwift never really engage on future project status so i’m not expecting to hear anything.

will we be getting the velodrome with the price increase?

By the time we get a velodrome most of the initial people who requested it will be gone or too old to ride on it.

Put it at the top of ventoux. lol.
Seriously it’s only 333 meters of work.

It may appear in the lake around Sequoias Circle since there is a starting pen in the water.

Velodrome access $35 a month.

Wasn’t that for rowing?

You know that area at the end of Tempus Fugit, where it just goes around like a lollipop back to the banner? They can just add a route and make it a make shift velodrome. They could also make the same on the other end where you exit the desert.

They already have a design for velodrome given that Eric Min leaked it in a ride. Looked pretty basic but the groundwork would be there just depends if they have developed it to something production worthy

Since when have zwift let that stop them releasing something?

The ground work would be easy if they use the portal style graphics. I am suggesting they don’t use any resource and just add a route and a banner.

i get that just think it will disappoint most that want a velodrome.

That would be a huge let down. It can’t be that hard to put some real velodrome graphics.

Heck, they could even just copy Wyatt Park in Sydney, football oval in the middle, the old grandstand on the outside and paved surface, 430m track. And yes, that one is 430m - I had quite a few laps of it.

Here are some ideas for this feature when/if it comes:

  1. Having multiple throughout Watopia like:
    a. A basic velodrome somewhere on the coast.
    b. A graveldrome (as I’m calling it) in Titans Grove or near the jungle.
    c. A stadium in downtown and maybe a second floor (kind of like climbing the Thames in London) with another track above the first floor.
    d. A Neón Velodrome. Maybe a good location would be the Alpe du Zwift or some other icy place because Neon seems to go well with places like the ADZ.
    e. An underwater velodrome. Turn off of Ocean Blvd onto the track with a glass dome roof.
    f. A velodrome inside of the volcano! Once you enter into one of the inside tunnels you could turn onto a circuit with the Volcano’s same surface about 400m or so long.

  2. Zone Lanes
The feature of having multiple velodromes would already help with crowdedness but if we had 6 lanes in each (one for each colored wattage zone) it could be helped more because I bet not EVERYONE will be in the same zone.
