Zwift run pod pairs but avatar does not move

TURN UPSIDE DOWN
Well I did 3.5 miles this morning with the runpod upside down on shoe and it worked. It was not brilliant as before but avatar was moving. Trouble was when doing 7mph running the speed went from 6- 6.9 all the time. The main thing the avatar was moving. This must be a product issue not software. Zwift have fully refunded and I have ordered a different device.

I am having the same problem. New Zwift footpod; however after 4 or 5 runs my Avatar will not move - despite the app being connected to the footpod. Is the recommend course of action the instructions at the top of this thread (Mar '19) ? Or, is there updated guidance. Thanks.

Same exact issue. Connected but not moving. Didn’t work on iPhone or iPad. What is going on?

Solution: I took the battery out, waited a few seconds, and then put it back in (with the logic that this would severe any “weird” connections / act like rebooting a computer) and it worked great

I had the same problem on multiple different run attempts, 2 at the gym and 2 outside. I was “Connected,” but the avatar was not moving. I took the battery out for like a minute and put it back in… It FIXED IT!!! Thanks Hunter_Lynn!!!

I am having this issue today. This is the second time in the past 2 months. It works on my Samsung tablet but not with my Iphone.

Take battery cover off and place a small piece of folded cardboard between the cover and battery. Replace cover. This ensures there is pressure between cover and battery and that the battery makes contact with the terminals. I had the same problems with zwift pod connecting but cadence not being registered, or bizarrely was dropping out mid run - I noticed that the battery was rattling slightly in the pod so tried this and it works fine now. I think it’s a design flaw with the battery cover insert wearing down/is compressed over time so battery doesn’t make full contact. Explains the observations made by other posts e.g. turning pod upside down makes it work, taking battery out and reinserting helps, etc

Hello, I am having the same problem. Using windows PC. Garmin foot pod is found in the setup screen but the avatar does not move. I do see the cadence numbers registering. How do I fix this issue?

So this has been a known problem for over four years?
Every other bluetooth device I own connects without any additional input after initial pairing. They just work. Why is the run pod so fragile? I train for triathlons and do bike/run brick sessions that require a quick change from bike to treadmill and this is impossible when the run avatar simply won’t respond without tinkering. This happened again today and I ended up running in the rain (which I don’t mind) without the benifit of HUD and the interval coaching that I pay my Zwift subscriptions for (which I do mind) What is more, when I go back to cycling the trainer doesn’t always reconnect.
You need to make the system robust Zwift. 4 years and this thread ends with self help hints about wedging cardboard in the battery compartment.

I am having major issues and frustrations with zwift run. I recently changed the battery in my zwift run pod, and it says it is connected. However, when I begin the run, within seconds, it says “connection failure.” When I click on the connection icon, it looks as if the run pod is still connected. I have tried turning Bluetooth off and on, tried turning wifi off and on, and still nothing. I have also tried using my iphone, as I thought it might be my ipad, but will not work on my phone, either. Please help. Am really frustrated.
