Zwift Run now behind a paywall?

Don’t currently have a live Zwift Subscription, was planning on re-setting it up over the winter once my half marathon was done.

Went on it, to run today, couldn’t proceed to the actual run as was blocked by a sign-up screen?

I mean, I understand it, in on way makes me more likely to maintain a zwift subscription, but in another way, I feel bullied into it, and lose a lot of goodwill towards Zwift.

Is this just a bug, or is this now policy?

Assuming Zwift does not differentiate somehow between running and cycling accounts (they are both open to all users) then this is old news. A good year or more. Once you’ve had your free trial period, that’s it. There is no longer the option for limited mileage per month as a ‘free’ account. Subscribe or lose access.

Running is still supposed to be free. This seems like it might be a bug. Try contacting support if it persists.

I’ve asked that we check on this.

From Zwift Runners on Facebook:

My app updated yesterday and when I try to run I am asked to renew my subscription which is currently cancelled as I am cycling outside. Is free running no longer available on zwift?

There’s been an issue. There’s a workaround by going in a cycle mode then switch to running.

Or other have reported logging out and back in resolves it.

Whilst others have also said uninstalling and reinstalling sorts it.

Thanks. Reloaded app and now ok

Please do

I hope it remains free, otherwise I’ll stop using Zwift: it’s primarily a cycling app that has never really catered to runners, so it’s just not worth paying for if you only use it to run.
