Zwift Ride Smart Frame with Elite Direto XR

I’m not 100% certain , but I think the frame will fit with those adapters mentioned earlier. Maybe someone smarter and more knowledgeable than me can confirm.

Hi all,

I was in contact with Elite support through a ticket on the Elite Direto XRT compatibility with virtual shifting and they said the following:

Direto XRT is at the moment not compatible with Zwift Cog and Click
A firmware update is already planning to be released within the end of November, to guarantee the compatibility

After this, I asked them in case there is a need of installing anything else from HW side. Here the answer

yes, from hardware side nothing will need to be done

Once you purchase the Zwift Cog, uyou just need to uninstall the cassette from the freehub provided with the trainer and insert on it the Zwift Cog

That said, I updated the firmware of my trainer today

Firmware version 80, revision 21. I also saw a not about compatibility with Zwift Cog.

Can someone confirm about the FW version?
Regards

Firmware version 80 is what my trainer updated to also. I’m presuming this is the most up to date

Somehow it showed a message due to compatibility with Zwift Cog. Not sure on which step of the update.

Could you double check with revision of FM you have installed in Upgrado?

v80 has been out for just over a year. So this isn’t a version that supports Virtual Shifting in Zwift, and we still need to wait for that.

Hi, can you confirm you can mount the zwift ride frame on the Elite Direto XR with the cassette attached and not the Zwift cog? I asked this question on another forum and I was told the zwift frame chain wouldn’t be compatible with the Direto XR & Cassette. I’m aware that virtual shifting won’t work but at least I will be able to use my ride frame on ERG mode instead of wasting away in the garage!

Apparently the firmware update should be coming later this month which is good news for us owners.

I would appreciate an answer if anyone has tried.

Hi @Davide_A and welcome to the forums! Alejandro here from Zwift. Appreciate you used this space to post your inquiry, and I’m happy to answer your question.

The Zwift Ride Frame has been designed to fit only with the Zwift Cog since the Zwift Ride’s chain is shorter than the standard chains. Besides, Virtual Shifting is only functional with the Zwift Cog.

In addition, you will need to acquire the Elite Direto XR with a preinstalled Zwift Cog to use the Zwift Ride Frame. Here you can check this article about frame compatibility.

If there is anything else we can help you with, please do not hesitate to write us at support@zwift.com.

Hi Davide,
I’m not sure if the frame and chain would work with the cassette on the trainer, but I would suggest removing the cassette from the trainer (with chain whip and cassette tool) and using the Zwift cog. I think this is how the frame is intended to be used for the best performance ( once the firmware upgrade is available—I’m anxiously awaiting that also!). I have the Zwift Frame setup with the cog on my Direto XR (2020 version) and plan on my first ERG ride tonight. At least I can confirm the saddle and handlebar positioning while I watch the controller buttons just uselessly blink at me, lol!

Oh sorry, Alejandro…didn’t see you had responded before me :-).

Thanks both for the replies @AlejandroC @RASS8428. Looks like I have to purchase the Zwift cog separately and wait for the firmware update!

Finally the release of the FW version 87 has been done.

Now the big question for those who owns an Elite Direto XR-T with the new firmware. Can we buy the zwift smart frame that includes the Zwift Cog (no Freehub) or are we forced to buy the Zwift Cog und Click Upgrade Kit?

Looking forward to your replies, because for me is not 100% clear
