Zwift ride / Kicker low wattage

Hi all

I have recently moved from using a turbo trainer connected to bike wheel, to a Zwift Ride/Wahoo Kickr.

Previously I was cycling between 180/200 watts average, but since moving to Zwift Ride/Wahoo Kickr, my wattage output is between 100/120 watts. I’m not sure what is going on here.

Unless you have a power meter to record from two measurement devices in a single ride, it’s hard to know which one is more correct. If you do own a power meter then you could do that: How To Use ZwiftPower’s Dual Recording Power Analysis Tool | Zwift Insider

It’s very common to experience loss of some watts when moving from a wheel-on trainer to a more accurate one, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if that happened.

If you want your PRs, pace group, and racing score reset, you can contact support and ask for that.

I got a power meter to independently record and it was recording between 190-200 watts vs 130-150 watts on my Kickr/Zwift ride, so definitely a big drop in wattage. Do you know is there is a calibration/spin down option for Kickr/Zwift ride? I was looking for this option but can’t find anything.

Also seen a video about the belt being possibly to tense, but I don’t want to start messing about with adjusting belts. Any further advise here?

You should talk to Wahoo support before doing any mechanical work on the trainer.

Modern Kickr trainers only support auto-calibration and factory calibration. This is the factory calibration process if you need it:

If the trainer model is a CORE 2, see the section titled New spindown (CORE 2)

Brilliant advice Paul. I’ve been trying to find the spindown on Wahoo, but did not know about the ‘secret 10 taps’ on the device.

I’ve since run the spin down and the wattage now is much better. Still a little lower wattage than my previous bike, but much more in the ballpark.
