Zwift ride issues

I bought the zwift ride and I’m deeply disappointed with it, I am not sure if it’s due to having a previous tacx flux s turbo and now the core2.

I am also finding the Zwift support in the UK to be terrible, has anyone else experienced this? I am becoming so frustrated at the moment and it’s ruining my love for Zwift.

What is the problem exactly?

Hi Steve,

When pushing power through I get a terrible vibration/resistance through the cranks and bottom bracket.

I believe the issue is coming from the Kickr core 2 and the cog.

I contacted Zwift 4 days ago and still going through the elimination process with them.

Looks like we’ve skipped straight to the complaint stage without the context bit. Brave choice.

That does not sound normal based on my experience with the Ride and Kickr Core V1. I think your best approach is to keep working with support because establishing that there’s a problem with the equipment would result in replacement under warranty.

Hi Hiltja,

I’ve not put any complaint in but when you get a brand new product at the cost it was, I think rectifying issues should be the utmost priority.

My only complaint here is having to deal with someone in America on Eastern time when I’m in the Uk. So the rectification process is very stretched out.

Hi Paul,

has your experience been good with the core 1?

I purchased this as it seemed ideal for my needs and was over the moon when it arrived. I know things don’t always go smoothly, just frustration is creeping in as I really want to enjoy using the set up.

Do you have a regular bike that you could try putting on the Core to see if same issue is there – at least to determine if the vibrations/resistance are from the Ride or the Core?

Yes it’s been fine, unwanted noise or vibration hasn’t been a problem. I had a Core V1 with my road bike on it for a year or so, and then I got the Ride bundle as a gift so I sold the old trainer and I’m using the one that came with the bike (exact same model). The only annoyance is the rubber feet falling off after a sprint but that part of the design changed for the Core V2. I’ve been too lazy to glue them on.

Hey Stuart, a few pics or a short video could help, whether it’s for support or posting on Reddit or other forums. There’s also a chance it’s a faulty Kickr, so sending it back might be the way to go.

I will get my winter bike out the shed and try that, I am convinced it is the Kickr that’s faulty.

I also bought the Zwift Ride / Kickr Core 2 combination and am experiencing the same vibrations. There is a dedicated Facebook group for the Zwift Ride, and it’s quite full of people who have the same problem.

It seems pretty certain that the vibrations exclusively originate from the Kickr Core 2. Some people have exchanged the Ride, but without improvement. Wahoo has already replaced several trainers; for some, it was slightly better, but the problem was not eliminated.

Thanks for that Paul, I love you got that as a gift haha.

I wasn’t sure if it was just the dramatic change in set up for me, but the more I use it the more it irritates me.

I will keep in touch with Zwift, as I said I really want this to work out as it is a great set up.

Hi Hiltja,

I will definitely do that going forward. My frustration got the better of me when I posted.

I’ve never had an issue with Zwift in the five years I’ve used it, was just hoping for a quick resolution.

I think you are right and the Kickr is faulty, most people’s experiences have been positive with it from what I’m reading.

Hi Michael,

I have read that also, but also the majority of people have had a positive experience with it.

I have asked if it’s possible to upgrade to the v6 and pay the difference. I am still waiting on a response for that though :crossed_fingers:t3:

That would be an option. Did you contact Zwift support or Wahoo. I went straight to Wahoo, waiting for a response.

Edit: I just got an response from Wahoo to exchange the Core 2, but that could be a refurnished unit. That´s ridculous, as mine is brand new. I will ask for an upgrade.

If you’re within the return period (30 days) and you’re not satisfied with the offered replacement, then return is your other option, or tell them you are returning it unless they give you a new trainer and see if that motivates them to do better.

Though it’s maybe unclear if he bought the Ride+Core package, which would mean a full return means to return everything (which altogether comes in 3-4 separate packages)?

Yes it would mean a full return if it’s the bundle, but look at it from the seller’s point of view: they do not want all of that kit returned because a faulty trainer was not handled in a satisfactory way. It is of course a pain for the customer to return it as well. The best outcome is they deal with a faulty trainer in a good way.

I think I would be screwed anyway as I disposed of all the boxes it came in :sob::sob::sob:
