Zwift Racing Score Update [October 29 2024]

Exactly, I did a club ladder race on 10/29 and my ZRS went to 475 from 470 and I haven’t entered a ZRS race since July 7 which was a HERD ZRS, everything else was CE. I mostly ride group rides, but my score was greatly influenced through training during those rides. I went from a sub 340 score, reset to 470 Sept 25, my score didn’t deteriorate and now at 475.

Tough nut to crack – we need a system where everyone can finish in the top 10%.

You missed the point, if anyone finishes in top 10% then 90% of the field are behind them, the point was the distance in ability between them, the gap in abilities has grew instead of narrowing despite an extra pen, therefore the races are less fair.

I really hope the scrapping of 30sec for seed score happens well before the Xmas holidays and seed score becomes completely about aerobic ability.

Ideally before the December Zmonthly series starts.

welcome to the forums. anyway you can make it annoyingly difficult, obvious to spot and account for by community organisers, or prohibitively time consuming for the rider, instead of impossible. that’s how it works best. eliminating it isn’t really worth it. let people waste their time trying if they’re determined enough instead

which should be pretty achievable, i think.

here’s a simple route zhq can consider… i decided to drop a bunch of ranking in one day, without using the tiny races to do it. the result was 3hrs and 30 mins or so for a total loss of 50-something ZRS. now, how many people can be bothered to sit on a trainer and ride around on their own for 3 and a half hrs just to drop half a pen range?

and that’s without even considering minimum effort measures

Can you tell us a bit more about that soon ? Is that days, weeks, months or are we stuck with this what we have now for a longer time ?

Notice this on someone’s profile. If they can push higher watts beyond 10 mins, that number should be used instead of 10 min power. And how do you actually push more watts for a longer duration than the shorter duration?

That comes from a bathtub shaped effort. High power at each end, low power in the middle.

so you take away or severely diminish the ability to do it in short races. sub 10km, sub 12km, sub whatever. simple enough in concept… i dont think you can assign the same value to a 4km result as you can to a 100km result to begin with, for a start. this is a physical sport

the point is to make it difficult or a huge waste of time, not impossible. cant make it impossible. most people do not rack up several hours a day of racing

add in some semi reasonable minimum effort measures on top of that and people will have to get very creative or get used to racing in their actual assigned pen ASAP

you talking about me Race the 1st km and the last km :stuck_out_tongue: @Tom_Shelton

You popped up on my youtube page, think you did 450 watts for the first 5 minutes!?

This is sensible. 16km/20min would be my vote.

This analogy doesn’t make sense.

5k runners aren’t entering the 100m heats to lower their rank to not compete at then Olympic level at 5k

This is people who do 4.5+ for 20mins noodling around in A for an hour to be able to dominate a few B races

Or just make everyone feel like a winner…

It’s patron enabled. For £10 a month we create a video where one of our keen and enthusiastic zwift racing fans will run around the room for 5 minutes cheering your name which you can share with your friends or upload to strava.

£20 and they’ll do the same in a mankini and curly green wig.

£100 a month and the video takes place on alpe d’huez.

£2000 / month and your fan will be running up alpe d’huez, screaming your name, wearing a mankini and Mark Cavendish will ride past and punch him for being in the way (* offer subject to getting approval from Mark Cavendish)

When a decent chunk of people say they want to race… What they actually want is a banded ride then seeing their avatar move to the front at the sprint.

Very interesting…
During last week i lost 20 points.
On Tuesday’s race with 5 participants i finished last and my racing score dropped from 534 to around 525 (can’t exactly remember).
After Thursday’s race with 2 participants i finished second and my racing core again dropped from 525-ish to 511.
Today i did DBR sufferday race in 520 - 690 groupe and finished 20th of 23 but my racing score again is lowered to 510. Guys bellow me are with higher racing score
Something is not OK with racing score. How on earth i can lose 20 points in one week with 3 races?

Because you have finished dead last two times and almost last one time in a spawn of three races.

Is this really a question?

What result do you expect and how the algorithm could better calculate your performance?

earlier I lost 5 points in week without racing, so I expect to lose 2-3 points not 20. And was stated what reduced field will not impact racing score too much
It’s not my problem that races are not so crowded

20 points in a 1000 point scale is 2%

Just finished zone 2 Tiny Races in pen E…

Each race was a struggle to keep with lead group, typically ~30 strong.

Began my sprint ~0.8Km out for races 1 and 2 from back of pack and very surprisingly got a win and a second.

Win felt very gifted, no sprint offered by rider who came second, who was clear of rest of pack… Bound to happen when position affects score and racers are worried where they might end up for the races they are really interested in.
Started day at 256.

Dropped by lead pack around half way point in races 3 and 4, dropped by second group in race 3 (exhaustion from first two races), sprinted with second group race 4.

The aerobic ability of sub 260 Racing Score still seems higher than Category Enforcement pen D used to be, but I’m also in less good shape than I was pre-Easter.
