I have been using Zwift for three months or so, since I can’t ride on the road any more. I work as a programmer, I have a lot of experience designing GUIs for apps and web. I have a few remarks about the Zwift GUI.
I use FPV, always, but I have to select that every single time. Please save this type of settings.
I always remove left and right panels before riding. Please save this setting
I get “close the gap” and similar notifications. Please remove those.
I get a segment results popup. Please don’t.
Zwift uploads a picture to strava on all my rides. Please don’t.
Zwift starts by “loading the app”. Loading takes an awful lot of time. I use an Android tablet. I have created numerous Android apps, none of them needed more than two or three seconds to load.
Every so many times I start Zwift, it shows upside down.
After removing unwanted panels, a “back to me” button shows. When I press that, I lose the FPV setting
I have a few favorite routes. Every time I use Zwift, I spend time finding my ride. Why can’t I select a few favorite rides right at the start screen?
I need to select devices before I select a ride. Why isn’t the order in which to do that optional? Or just show the selection options as soon as Zwift has detected the devices? And if there is only one, just select that and don’t bother the user? Like how it works on my road bike?
Apart from what I said, I think the 3D environment is great. Zwift is not a game, you don’t need better resolution than what Zwift currently has. I can imagine that using a game engine makes it harder to make nice buttons… It would probably be best to make additional options (route preferences, fpv preference, etc) in the companion app.
Today there was a lot of noise in the ride, like there was a storm. I switched of the sound.
I have more to add, basically you need 3 different apps (main app, companion app and feed to get all info, eg it is impossible in companion app to check badges, garage, challenges, xp status etc…) from the companion app we should be able to set up a ride and send it to main app. zFTP/zMap/power curve should also be available in the main but especially companion app
I always need to unpair my pm first, then pair my trainer as pm and only then can I add it as controllable after which I need to pair my pm again (supposedly trainer power needs to be paired first before controllable becomes available but this should happen without user intervention and my pm should stay pained, it would also be nice if the discovery happened in the background so a route/bike etc can be selected)
Eh…probably in the next 5-10 years in reality. I just want to banish the rainy weather and give the HUD a Fortnite level is semi-customizable, toggles for on/off and be able to edit size and location of each display. The cartoony graphics should be about the same.
What?!? Zwift is an interactive fitness game. Especially when you’re racing at higher levels when reaching the sprint or finish line matters for in game results.
