Soo,
i managed to miss stage 1 and 5 and today is the last chance to do it.
i tried to find some information on how long can take for a low Cat C rider to finish (FTP 260W, 82kg, 3.1W/kg) but couldnt find it. a rough calculation would put in 1,5hours?
im asking because there is one stage 5 race at 16:10 today and the Stage 1 is at 18:10 and the theorethical plan is to try both. i know performance will be crap anyhow, but for the sake of completion i would like to give a go.
im just wondering if considering the AVG time for such w/kg, i could make it bellow 2 hours.
Forgot to add, in between im preparing a pizza dough (im sure this multitasking will just mean i will screw some or all of the tasks :P)
BTW, is there any Time calculator outhere based on the avg wattage and zwift routes?
thanks in advance for any insight
That estimate sounds about right if you have enough people to draft. I completed stage 5 in a little under 90 minutes, with the C group, 2.9W/kg @ 75.5kg. I raced very conservatively to save as much as I could for the last climb and stayed with the leaders until it split up at that point. I did nothing to push the pace of the group and never put my nose in the wind. Everyone dropped on earlier climbs was never seen again by the lead group so don’t let that happen.
Thanks Paul, sounds about a good strategy.
i just need to save a little of energy to be able to finish the stage 1 afterwards…which i believe will be “easier”…
cheers
I checked zwifterbikes.web.app which will let you set the average power, height, weight, bike, wheels and get an estimate. It said about 1:42 so that’s the estimated time with no draft for me at 216W average power. Obviously much faster with a group. My event had 61 starters but most of them didn’t stay with the lead group past the first climb.
This is cool. im assuming the Watts they asked in the first field is the average expected right? if so, its telling me 1:51 by pushing 200W. it will be tight
MORE POWER
Did it yesterday with average of 2.9 (quite a bit of super tucking on the way down the epic. Took 91 min.
Make sure that pizza is an extra large. You’ll have earned it.
in the end i managed to do both.
96min for the stage 5 and crawled to the finish line on the Stage 1, almost as last one.
Now its pizza time
10% more did the trick
