Appreciate your comments Chris, I realise the facts, basically I’m a top end D Cat rider and if I go nuts I can ride bottom C Cat. Sure that is fine, I get it.
The problem is nobody really wants to try and race at the bottom of any category and the power spread is is pretty wide coupled with B Cat riders sandbagging it in as well, no thanks, although with the first race out of the way and updated ZRS the games should get better as it progresses.
I’m 59, there is no improving, there is only trying to limit they speed you are going backwards, you hit your own personal performance envelope and that’s it no matter how much you train, a peak is a peak.
You need to be able to stay in the main peloton for it to be “Fun”, the second you drop off the back it turns into a solo ride.
I used to have a goal of 100Km a week, was finding it pretty tough now doing over 100km a week. Probably not doing enough Z1 or Z2 work, it all tends to be higher and winds up being Z3.
Just got off the bike 32.3km at 170W average in Zone 2 for 1:12:06 so that pretty good. Maybe a few weeks of 150Km in Zone 2 would be good. Zone 1 is not really useful all the time it feels like its usefull as a recovery ride after a race day but that’s about it.
