Out of the blue a few days ago my current active ride would not load when I started a ride and it has continued since then. Companion records my rides just fine and saves them to my activities but the app has quit interacting with my current ride. I’m on the latest versions of Zwift and ZC, I’ve disabled and re-enabled bluetooth and checked my connections. I’ve also deleted and re-installed ZC on my phone. Nothing is working. If anyone has an answer I would appreciate hearing from you. Many thanks.
Are Zwift and ZC on the same wifi network? I believe they need to be.
Yes, same network
This is like 99% of the time some kind of network problem that gets in the way of Companion and the game finding each other. Can you offer more details about your network and the devices you use to run the game and Companion?
Single home network, never any connection issues with Zwift or ZC. 3rd year in Zwift and I’ve never had a connection failure during a ride or had ZC not link to a ride in progress. ZC and Zwift are paired through my phone. I’ve never changed or messed around with the connection settings. Zwift runs on my MacBook Air and my phone is a current Apple.
Stepping out for a couple hours. Thanks all for your help.
OK some things you can try:
- Put the phone in airplane mode and then enable WiFi. This rules out any chance that it switches to Cellular. You can also disable Apple’s WiFi Assist feature on the phone to help prevent that from happening.
- Unplug the router and plug it back in again
- Re-install Zwift on the Mac. The newest version of the game launcher has some improvements relating to Mac network permission prompting. If it doesn’t have local network access, that will prevent it from communicating with Companion.
Deleted and reinstalled Zwift on my Mac. Problem appears to be fixed. Many thanks!
