Zwift Click will not connect to iPAD A16

Hi,

I bought the kickr core2 right before xmas. I do not have a pc setup, and run zwift through my cell phone. I was able to connect the system up only to my iphone 15 workphone. For xmas I got an iPad A16 as I didn’t want to rely upon my workphone. I can get everything to connect but the shifters. I have followed instructions from similar posts on the forum. I have Bluetooth off on my previously connected phone. Uninstalled wahoo app to avoid any conflicts. I have uninstalled zwift and companion and reinstalled. iPad is new so there isn’t much on it. I disabled the bridge feature. With Zwift and companion apps closed I only see my polar hrm and kickr connected to the bluetooth on ipad. No zwift click.

Was able to connect once yesterday, but could not tell you what magically happened. I’ve even had my wife disable her phone’s bluetooth.

I feel that I should not have bought the core2 and purchased the kickr with a rear cassette as the core 2 click shift is so finicky.

Is there a way to have the iPad target the shifter?

Thank you

If iPadOS recently updated on the iPad, you may need to delete and reinstall Zwift to restore permission to use Bluetooth. You may see permission prompts when you run it for the first time, which must be allowed.

Some other things to try:

  • Run the Wahoo app and check for trainer firmware updates
  • Go to the Equipment menu in the Zwift Companion app to make sure the Click controller firmware is up to date
  • If you paired the trainer via WiFi, try pairing via Bluetooth instead

There is nothing stopping you from installing a normal multi-gear cassette on the trainer you bought. The Cog on it is just a cassette with one sprocket. Tools required are a lockring tool and a chain whip, but you could also take it to a bike shop and it would take them 2 minutes. You also have the option to use virtual shifting with the Click controllers when a cassette is installed. Installing a cassette is probably preferable to returning the trainer.

Thank you for the prompt Paul.
I will go through the uninstall drill again. When prompted, I always answer don’t allow to location, but allow detection of bluetooth devices.

One other thing - if Zwift is still running on the phone, and was paired to the trainer via WiFi, disabling Bluetooth probably will not disconnect it. To make really sure it’s not running on the phone, you could remove it from the phone, or force-quit the app.

Paul the phones are powered off.

Completed the whole reinstall

everything connects but the zwift click. it just sits with an orange square that says “Zwift Click B8B6 Connecting.”

Zwift click keep going blue. I expect to see the zwift click showup on the iPad bluetooth list, but I don’t see it.

OK I am running out of ideas but I don’t think we discussed firmware updates for the Click controllers which done in the Equipment menu of the Companion app. And with Zwift not running you should not be pairing anything Zwift uses to the Bluetooth settings on the iPad.

You should probably contact support to get their troubleshooting process started. If they come up with a solution I hope you will report back.

Thank you paul.

I have everything off. If i just start pedaling and press the buttons for zwift click, i would expect the leds to be solid blue. They just flash and time out. I even tried new battery

No button connection.

My iPhone thinks I’d rather be riding.

Hi Paul,

Exact the same thing here!

It works perfect on my old pc but with Apple (Ipad A16)… no way!!

Tried everything, spend hours on it but not possible to connect. One time magically but don’t know the reason! I already chatted a lot with the Zwiftapp/userz but none of it works…

Getting tired of it

It keeps connecting…

Connecting the zwift click in the zwift companion app isnt even possible

Sorry was away for NY. Agree - the zwift connect does nothing with the iPad A16.

Sorry Paul - Zwift may need to buy an iPad A16 to sort out connectivity.
