I’ve just signed up to Zwift and I have a JTX Runrise treadmill. The app recognises my treadmill and connects up properly. On the connection screen (below) it also shows the correct kph that I have the machine set at. When I go into a run, my avatar is literally walking and however fast I increase the speed on the treadmill, the avatar is going at 0 kph?
Any help please?
Hi @James_Self, welcome to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.
I checked your setup more closely and noticed some BLE disconnection events coming from your device: FS‑7D0736, Run Speed. That suggests there may be interference or instability in the Bluetooth signal. A few things worth trying:
-
Make sure the treadmill is the only device paired for Run Speed in Zwift.
-
Turn off Bluetooth on nearby devices that might be competing for the signal.
-
Restart the iPad and re‑pair the treadmill to Zwift.
-
If possible, test in a different room or with fewer wireless devices around to rule out interference.
You can also review this article for more ideas: BLE and ANT+ Interference Troubleshooting Tips
When the Bluetooth signal drops, the speed data doesn’t reach Zwift consistently, which can cause your avatar to move in slow motion even though the treadmill shows the correct pace.
Thanks for posting.
Ride On.
Francisco,
Thank you for your help. I’ve done everything you’ve said in your message and the Avatar is still only going at walking pace, even though as you can see from the screenshot, Zwift is recognising that I have set my treadmill to 5.4 km/h??
- I have checked that only the treadmill is the paired device. I’m using an Ipad
- I’ve turned off all other bluetooth devices nearby
- I deleted the Zwift app, re-loaded it and re-paired it with the treadmill
- I cannot move the treadmill to a different room
Please help! I haven’t got much longer left on my free trial and haven’t been able to get this working at all yet.
Many thanks
James I know in your original post you mention you have set the treadmill at a high speed, but how high?
5.4kmh is walking speed on Zwift. You need to be going above, approximately, 4.2 mph or 6.8 kmh
At least now your game is showing your avatar as moving, try turning your treadmill speed up over 8kmh and show us another screenshot.
While I can’t add much more to the main issue, I will point out something.
”I haven’t got much longer left on my free trial and haven’t been able to get this working at all yet.”
There is no subscription needed for Zwift as runner only, unless you are using the auto-incline feature with a treadmill such as the Wahoo Kickr Run.
Ian,
Thank you. I thought that 5.4km/h would be enough to get the Avatar off a walk, but now speeding it faster I’ve managed to get the avatar running.
Many thanks

Bryan,
Thanks for your reply. I’m new to Zwift as I’m sure you can see. When I downloaded it, there didn’t seem to be a way to join for free just to use a treadmill without providing card details and signing up for a 14 day free trial? Have I missed something?
Many thanks
James

You should be able to cancel and keep running.

As Paul says, just cancel your membership and run on! I’m actually on a full membership, I ride and use auto-incline on my treadmill (makes “Road to Sky” and “Oh Hill No” really fun).
Thank you both. I’ll try that.
Many thanks
