We have a thread for wishlists for Zwift itself, but couldn’t find a dedicated thread for the Companion App save for a few singular suggestions. Figured we could use one for a centralized place to posit our ideas. I’ve a got a couple I was thinking about yesterday:
1- Have a rider’s pace group and racing score always visible. It’s a bit frustrating to have this hidden when the profile is private. I agree that it’s important to have the choice to keep certain information private, but when racing, I think we should still have the rider’s ability information available to know what we’re up against in an event.
2- We have a power graph viewable for throughout a previous ride, but it might also be helpful to have a power curve visible. Data nerds like myself like to see how our power was for certain durations through the ride, and having this in the companion app would make things so much easier to view this on demand. And even if the chart can’t be done, even a simple list of what max power at certain durations was (ie 5 sec, 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 5 min, and so on) would be better than nothing.
The ZCA is pretty much sorted as it is. Private means private, if you want weight then this should be LIVE during a race event on the right hand side below the riders name. Apparently this is how it was years ago and Zwift changed it. The rider weights are clearly shown in the ZwiftPower results anyway.
The power distribution graph desperately needs changing, 600W is not enough, it needs to either go out to 1000W or just have a single additional column for 600W+ and add all the time spent over 600W and put it in the single column on the far right.
A small quality of life feature that I’d like in the companion is an event filter that lets me only show events for a certain time range (the range I ride in).
At the moment if I want to use the app to see tomorrow’s events I have to scroll through all events from midnight until 9am before seeing anything relevant to me.
Could be useful but on the odd occasion some people do Event only rides at weird times to get the completion. I did get up once at 3AM and tried to row a full marathon on RowPro, it didn’t end well, started to hallucinate due to total lack of hydration at the 32Km mark and had to handle down.
It was shown when you tapped on a rider in companion app along with height if I remember right.
So you could easily know which riders were not real. This goes with the request I saw recently to automatically flag suspicious weight large changes and maybe exclude them from leaderboards, racing until the change is clarified. The rider can then explain to Zwift how their weekend away riding in the mountains got them a weight reduction from ~85kg to 60kg over the two days.
I also like the idea (and think I’ve also requested it before) of being able to tweak the order of things in companion app main menu. Things like the Zwift challenge advertisements aren’t of any interest because I have my own year long challenge. The AI suggestions I would hide, they aren’t very relevant and I have enough experience of training with power and coaching to make my own decisions which are more suitable and far more accurate.
I don’t think it’s always necessary to have this showing, however if someone is signed up for a race it should be showing regardless of the privacy settings.
I’m just suggesting another filter to the ones already there: nobody would need to use the filter, and if you do you can always go in at any time and change or remove the filter the way you can for the other filters.
Always showing riders personal data - weight, height, age, … - without consent is not possible, at least in the EU, because of the GDPR law. If someone wants to hide it he/she can. It’s shown in Zwiftpower because there is the option to hide it, but it’s true that most users don’t do it.
