I haven’t seen many bicycle road races start where the competitors aren’t standing still…even gravel races have lead outs. Just wondering why this approach was taken vs you can’t leave the starting line until you are “standing” still…0 watts.

Risk of trainers going to sleep / disconnecting if there’s 0 watts for too long?
Two thoughts.
- At this point I think we all know that you have to get your watts up ~10s before the race starts so it’s part of the race
- How would you do it? I can get to zero watts easy, but zero speed is hard with a flywheel.
0 speed is easy just stop pedaling sooner…how long do racers stand on the line before the go in real life?
Anyhow, I don’t really care about the results.
