What should I focus on next?

I joined Zwift 7 weeks ago and have been focused on TDZ since my second week. I will complete that this weekend. It has been a great motivator and I am wondering if those of you who have been on Zwift for awhile have any advice on what to do next to continue training. Thanks!

The Everest Challenge…50K meters and the reward is the Tron bike and either a love or hate of climbing. Make sure you are signed up at the Settings screen. Should be a Challenges icon:

First things first - well done on your achievements so far … especially keeping going on La Reine. That’s a loooooong slog.:clap::clap:

I guess “what next?” depends on what you’ve enjoyed so far. Anything in particular stick out?

  • Finish all the routes
  • Find a social group you enjoy riding with - this will take some experimentation to discover the rides with your preferred pace and conversation. When you find a good one, keep coming back to it.
  • Try racing, maybe join a club that races
  • Try some workouts if you like that sort of thing
  • The next big tour will be Big Spin next month (?) so keep an eye out for that

Start thinking about getting ready for spring outdoor rides, perhaps start riding in Zwift with 100% trainer difficulty getting your legs prepared for the gearing you would have outside.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying Zwift!

I think this largely depends on what your overall goals are. For example, are you trying to improve your general fitness? Are you trying to stay motivated to do regular exercise and/it’s community? Are you trying to get ready for an outdoor season or a specific event? Would you like to work on certain areas of your cycling such as sprinting or climbing?
Would also be helpful to provide the context of how many hours a week you plan to train.

If you can give a bit more info about what your overall goals are, I think people can give you some helpful answers on what you might do next.

Arent the Zwift Games first ?

Don’t know! I think they’re supposed to overlap but I haven’t seen the start date for Big Spin yet. Anyway for someone who loved Tour de Zwift, Big Spin is the next same thing.

I loved the Big Spin last year.

Thanks very much for the recommendations. My goals are to improve fitness, get ready for outdoor riding, and have fun so that I stay motivated to continue using the app. Climbs are the most challenging for me so I am sure they are also good for me. Do you think a level 16 rider can do the Everest challenge or should I train more first? I think I might enjoy racing but knowing what I have committed to each week to complete an event has been motivating so maybe Big Spin is the thing to do next. Hopefully I have time to try it all!

Sounds like these mass Zwift HQ group events (ie Big Spin) May suit your purposes quite well. At some point, you may also want to check out community group rides as they have a very social aspect that a lot of people find engaging in terms of staying motivated to come and work out on the platform regularly.

If climbing is something you have to do outdoors and the bike you have on your trainer has the same gearing as that you use outside, you may wish to change your trainer difficulty to 100%, so you’ll have a little bit of a better sense of how you will feel outside.

The Everest Challenge can be started at any time. All of the elevation during all of your rides will add and count towards it. You need not wait to get started on that.

Happy Zwifting!

Hi @Lori_Parent.

Thank you for your enthusiasm for Zwift! I wanted to join the conversation and recommend you the challenge of unlocking all the badges. It’s not easy and requires commitment, but I assure you it will be very rewarding. Be sure to check out this article for information on how to unlock the badges.

Additionally, keep in mind that you have access to a variety of cycling activities on Zwift, including free rides, workouts, joining clubs, participating in events, and much more. I’m confident you’ll find several activities that you enjoy.

I hope you continue to enjoy Zwift with the same enthusiasm!

Ride On.
