What happens if?

Hi all,

I am new here and was wondering what happens if your trainer does not support the gradient a mountain pass has? Won’t you be able to ride it or?

Thanks,

Hi Andre,

The majority of our riders are on classic trainers - those without electronic brakes that Zwift can control the resistance on. So what we do is change the relative speed based on the virtual power curve for that particular trainer.

While you won’t get the added “difficulty” of a hill, you will still need to use more effort to get up one in-game at speed. It pretty much evens out.

So, yes, you will be able to ride it. It’s the equivalent of taking trainer realism all the way down to zero in our settings menu if you have a smart trainer.
