During a race this weekend I must have had a dropout at some point. The number above the rider list that indicates your position in the race turned into to hyphens, but otherwise everything felt completely normal.
I ended up winning the race, but probably only so because the other guys - including the one I was drafting on his decisive surge before I passed him at the finish - couldn’t see my avatar at all. They only discovered I was still in the race when they saw my name at the top of the results list.
After the race I couldn’t post in chat (or see messages from the other guys), so in some ways it seems I was effectively disconnected, but I was receiving draft, and apart from the rider list thing there was nothing to indicate on my end that something was up.
Anyone ever see that kind of dropout before? I assume there isn’t a whole lot I could have done differently to reconnect, even if I had known I was partially disconnected?
Seems unlikely to me. Result is registered on Zwift and ZP. And I’d assume I would have received some form of communication about it if I had triggered something in the system to deserve a ban of any kind.
Your race information, activity screenshot and result suggest something slightly different to you having a drop out. However I don’t race any ‘all riders visible’ so I’m not familiar with how they exactly work - possibly others will know.
Your race was all riders visible - But I think this means you see other racers but you only see the race position of those in your pen.
Your screenshot shows you at around 11km in second place behind one other racer in your pen - I believe at this point there were only 2 of you in your pen still racing. [I don’t know why the race position shows you as 1 of 2 when you appear to be in second place]
The live tab on ZwiftPower shows your other pen A racer dropping out of the race at 15km - I don’t know how the race position now shows you. [possibly the hyphens are used ?] With this other rider dropping out your rider list would only show you and might give the impression that you had encountered a dropout when that was probably not the case.
I suspect you may then have been caught by the B pen racers. You would have seen them on screen but not in your race position tab as they were not in your pen.
You did win your pen A race as you were the only finisher and you did not affect the results of those in Pen B with who you finished the race.
I don’t know how in game chat works with all riders visible when you are the only racer left in one of the Pens.
Youre looking at the wrong race. I’m referring to the ECRO race the day before.

Ah yes, I should have realised with your race experience it wasn’t something as simple and obvious as the DBR race !

I have had this exact dropout maybe 2-3 times over the last couple of months.
It shows - - / as position, but keeps the draft and I disappear to others as if I’ve used a ghost powerup. Mine was intermittent though so I came in and out a few times during the races. It’s been in races where I’ve been flat out to stay with the pack so I haven’t been able to get any benefit out of it. (ZRL race in Richmond was definitely one of them)

i will have to find video @Dan_Chubb_EVOLVE i have being live stream all riders gone. but the live stream was still good. i dont know PG-13 video.
Yes, that seems like exactly the same issue, except for the popping in and out part. So weird. It’s better than a full dropout, of course, but still. At least next time I’ll know what’s up and either quit the race or hang back in the group to try and avoid situations where I benefit from being invisible.
