Wahoo kickr v6 virtual gear resistance wrong

Does anyone get this problem now and then. When spinning warm up in the game before a race I start spinning and everything seems fine then suddenly it is like Zwift or the trainer adds the break with a hard resistance, in gear 8 it feels like 4 % climbe. It does not happen all the time just in some races at the start before the race starts. I have tried ending races and reloading race but it stayed the same like the breaks where touching the wheel. Today I stopped half way through race and unplugged trainer for a bit and reconnected trainer and resistance seemed alright after that. So if you get the problem this worked for me today. I don’t know if it Zwift or the trainer but it is just like the breaks are on even when going down hill.

I had this problem when my gear ratio was too low. I had always used my small (34) in the front & something high on the cassette (23?) in ERG mode to get a straight chain line, run quiet & avoid too much flywheel momentum.

With virtual shifting this didn’t work, the flywheel didn’t spin fast enough. A switch to 50/18 (noisy) or 34/14 (quieter) ended that problem.

You need 2.5:1 to 3.0:1 for optimal virtual shifting

Hey Barry

Same experience for me sometimes…

If it happends, it’s always within the first 60 sec when riding. A normal ride in 14th gear will change to doing the same power in 3-4th gear…

Reconnecting seems to get it back to normal, but it’s really annoying to deal with…

Yes I have zwift ride bike frame not my bike but I found last time unplugging my Kickr and connecting it again seemed to work. Annoying when I had to pull out of a few races odd what happens. Thanks for reply I was wondering how many riders this happens to but not got many replies. Or if there was another way to fix it.

I wonder if there are any Bluetooth problems visible in a zwiftalizer report, prior to the point when you unplugged the trainer. I would take a look at that, unless you’re on Apple TV where debugging is impossible.
