VES 3-Lap Zwift RACE | Start = 5:30am EST February 20, 2015

(Captain apt Insane-O VES (F)) #1

We will do 1 warm-up lap, I will pace it (C.Insane_O) and keep it under 200w for the whole lap. The warm-up lap will start promptly at 5:30am and our race group will stay together for the whole lap. As soon as we cross the finish line the 3-Lap race is on! Go after it! If you’re participating please post here to let me know AND post your finishing time in EST. We will all have an identical start time so the EST finish time will be used to calculate the results, which I will post here, on Facebook and on the Virginia Endurance Series website by 9am tomorrow / Friday / following the race.

The Virginia Endurance Series is a FREE year-round series of primarily backcountry adventure mountain bike rides. VES kicks off every year with a Global 50-day Ride Challenge (ride at least an hour a day, every day, from Jan 1 thru Feb 19). Everyone is finishing the 50-Day challenge today Feb 19 so this RACE is a chance to show everyone what you’ve got!

See you in the morning!

Sounds like an excellent way to start the day …

Great idea, and thanks for organizing it! Would love to have joined if it wasn’t so early (3:30 AM where I am!)

Would be great if there was a better way to determine the winner. Perhaps Zwift could post times across the finish line, the same way they do in cyclocross races during laps. I’m sure they will for their own official races.

There is also a ‘Zwift Riders’ FB page, I have seen folks posting upcoming rides on this page as well.

We could create a 4 lap segment in Strava - that might do the trick (one lap for warmup then 3 race laps).

It would be great great if Zwift would take care of the timing! Re timing - yeah I need to go early EST to be ready for work, but that eliminates west coast riders, except for total nut jobs  I’ll find and post to the Zwift Riders page too Chuck - thanks for the tip and see you in the morning!

Agree with Chuck. A Strava segment (sponsored by VES!) could handle timing/scoring.

The Strava Segment was created, thank you Chuck, but it was immediately populated with 1254 riders.

  1. T.Norton
  2. C.Insane_O
  3. C.Kozlowski
  4. ?
  5. ?
  6. ?

You can sort on just today’s date and I think it cuts it down to a manageable number.
