USB dropout on Jetblack Victory

Whelp, had a USB dropout :frowning:

Nothing in the zwift log at the exact moment of the dropout. Quickly solved by unplugging and replugging USB cable. Managed to catch a video snapshot on the potato but don’t think I can upload mp4 to the forum.

Hi @Alex_Beebe
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I just spotted your post buried in another thread, so I split this into its own thread where we can track it.

Has this dropout reoccurred, or was it a one time glitch?

If other Jetblack Victory users are experiencing dropouts over USB, please weigh in and give us a little detail of your setup:

  • How long is the USB cable?
  • Do you know if the cable is USB 2.0 / USB 3.0 / USB 3.1 spec? For longer cable runs, USB 2.0 is recommended.
  • Are you using a USB hub in between the trainer and computer? Does it draw separate AC power, or is the hub powered only by the laptop?
  • USB ports on a motherboard can go wonky over time, and there’s no way for you to know until it throws erratic symptoms like this. Try plugging the cable into a different port.

Appears to have been a one time thing so far :crossed_fingers:

Thanks for checking in and following up

Fingers crossed that this was a one-time thing, but do let us know if it happens again.

Thanks also for providing context on your setup. Wired setups tend to be more reliable than wireless, but nothing is bulletproof.

One thing I forgot is that I’ve since disconnected the JB from my WiFi network in the event that there was some conflict running WiFi and USB simultaneously.
