Update on results based ranking, Zwift score etc. etc. etc.?

WTRL were slow to move to CE because it wasn’t really finalized until this last winter. They moved to it starting with TTTs in I think april or may of last year. But at the start of the previous indoor season I think our fitness metrics weren’t visible to us yet, or possibly ZP was still showing the legacy cat instead of the CE cat. Same story with steering I guess… I’m not into that, but I assume it’s still a work in progress. They enable it for TTTs though

Just doing my monthly duty of standing up for wtrl. Someone gotta do it. Though with that said yeah, you’re probably right for those reasons

I am sure they don’t have the answer to that. There still the live testing phase and the reworking out the bugs. If they commit to it they might disappoint if it doesn’t work.

Think ZRL Auto bracket and how poorly that went. We went into live and it wasn’t told that the new system was cancelled after the first race started.

It was a DA FAQ moment.

Rumors of races using ZRS for categorization in the next week or so…

But they still aren’t able to figure out how points races work

Look at you stealing WTRL’s thunder - I thought it was their job to unofficially announce all Zwift racing releases.

Looks like ZRS is getting trialed thru Zwift Labs for Women’s Racing Series starting July 2. Excited to see how it works!

Actually looks like all Zwift Labs events are testing Racing Score next week.

Yep, and the prime time one on Monday is even broken in to two “High end” and “Low end” events with separate 5 categories each.

Apparently my ZRS is somewhere between 600 and 650 (judging by the categories open to me in the high end/low end sign up pages).

EDIT: Just saw this:

In order to see your Racing Score, you need to join the Zwift Labs club here: https://www.zwift.com/clubs/89553d56-e69e-423f-9e02-06618d25af90/homeOpens a new window.

2nd EDIT: I can’t find my actual ZRS (I guess it’s not available yet) but on the Zwift Labs club chat James says tomorrow there will be a forum post about ZRS.

I’m in the same range. Looking forward to seeing how it compares to zwiftracing.app scores.
I think Tiny Races will use this score on July 6 going by Eric’s hint in the latest post.

James HQ confirmed that they aren’t available yet but should be soon (if you’re a member of Zwift Labs).

Edit: Change of plans, the score will now be made available to everyone, not just Zwift Labs members.

it’s been developed with help from zwiftracing.app so I would expect it to be similar

Rather than put this in the new thread…

Have we ever discussed having ZRS post-race adjustments somehow linked to the duration of the race?

In my opinion a racer should get proportionally more credit for winning say a 90-minute race, compared to winning say a 10-minute Tiny Race, against the same field of opponents, due to the energy/effort expenditure.

Nope, both are specialist skill set & different energy systems which bring their own challenges to each person.

The idea of parity is to provide balance across all race types.

There needs to be a separation between the numbers used for categorisation (rating) and for performance (ranking).
The Zwift Racing Score is used for categorisation, it’s the equivalent of the vELO number on ZRapp. This one should not be weighted by the length of the race, it doesn’t make sense to do so when the same number is used regardless of the race.
There should also be a performance score, Ranking Points on ZRapp, Race Ranking on Zwiftpower. There is an argument that this one could be scaled based on course difficulty, whether that is length, elevation, type of finish etc. Of course, there are good arguments against that too.

I totally agree. All Usain Bolt’s Olympic medals should be much smaller and count for less than Mo Farah’s.

Oh. Maybe not.

i used to think that was important, but i don’t now. if you good you good. the goal is to put people in the right pens so they can have a good race at the end of the day. everyone probably has a different opinion on what a “good race” is, but if i’m personally concerned about any demographic’s opinion on that, it’s potential new racers and casual “maybe i’ll get into this” racers
