It was discussed in a previous thread, about taking the (great) splits feature, and ensuring it can work like this in workout mode so we have a way to see avg watts during each interval block (like what the splits function provides).
It was acknowledged and passed on, but based on what I see, it is only the current 13 customisable fields available – which does not include avg lap power – so my fear and expectation is that this is STILL not going to be possible within the new workout HUD .
If a customisable workout HUD launches without the ability to see Avg power and HR during each interval, that would be madness in my opinion!
Hopefully someone from Zwift can confirm that this is actually going to be possible
Things I’d like to see one day in workout mode:
MaxHR per interval.
List of previous text on-screen in the instance I missed it …which happens often (I’m fine with this being just on Companion App if you could tap the text box and it shows the previous messages)
Based on the listing though it seems like the updated HUD we received last year is replacing the ages old one and that’s about the sum of it.
Also just skimmed through some other softwares that have workout mods and just… find it wild something like what you mentioned and myself here with per/interval data just… doesn’t exist.
Are we the weird ones for wanting to know better HR stats during workouts?
In TrainingPeaks Virtual, I can have a clear view of Avg HR, Power and Cadence for each interval.
In MyWhoosh, you are shown the averages at the end of each block.
I love the Splits feature in Zwift, and it is great for doing ‘freestyle’ workouts in free ride mode (and also tracking efforts in events and races). It shows the capability is there. The UI and HUD just needs updating to allow this information to be shown clearly when in Workout Mode.
… As with most things… give us the option!
@shooj … Would you be able to follow this up with the team? It links to what was talked about May 2025 and it may be helpful for the team ahead of the workout HUD rollout.
It would be great to get some information. Thanks.
I spoke to Zwift staff about this (and handed them your forum topic) and the product people are already aware of the request. I don’t have visibility into exactly what they will ship when the update comes.
Thanks Paul. It is good to know it is at least on the radar.
With it due to roll out in the next month, it would be great if ‘the product people’ or someone could at least provide a bit more of an initial indication on what is planning to be released. I know we have had the promotional material released, but I mean in response to this question around the visibility of Avg watts etc. per interval directly.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed (but my expectations muted)
You see, I assumed that the “175” in this screenshot was avg lap power … because I assumed that all of those data points applied only to the current interval.
If that is the case then great… but based on the current selectable options within the customisable HUD, these are ‘global’ options (i.e. avg power covering the whole duration of the current session, not the current interval (or split)).
Hopefully workout mode will be different, but currently, I suspect it won’t …
Why wouldn’t Avg Power for a given interval, basically be whatever value erg mode is set to hit? Or this is about workouts where you’ve turned off erg?
Exactly. A lot of riders do not like ERG so would benefit from having a reference point.
Having Avg power shown during each interval is also useful for the longer duration efforts, or even the shorter ones if you are trying to match or progress from previous intervals. ‘Free ride’ blocks would also benefit from having avg power shown. (I know this is already shown on some workouts and there is a way to manipulate the workout file to show avg power for certain intervals, but this is not exactly user friendly)
A ‘lap button’ (or auto lap, when doing intervals) is such a basic and expected feature on our head units. At this point, it should also be baked into the game to be available as a feature for users doing workouts.
